The state of Mississippi has had enough of Jackson's BS

Jackson enacted a policy that they will release officer's names in officer-related shootings, which is dumb.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation told them they can do their own investigations.
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) has terminated a Memorandum of Understating (MOU) between DPS and the Jackson Police Department (JPD) regarding investigations of officer-involved shootings by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI).
It is MBI’s protocol to not release names of witnesses or officers involved in such cases while the case/investigation is pending. Based on Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba’s recent announcement to release the officers’ names within 72 hours and the previously agreed upon term that all media statements and releases shall be vetted through DPS, MBI will not assist JPD in any future investigations. We fully support and adhere to an impartial, fair, and transparent investigation.
We will not compromise an investigation, nor endanger the lives of witnesses, officers, or their families, by being forced by a predetermined 72-hour timeline to release such information or deem a case/investigation complete as a matter of course.

Jackson would resemble Zimbabwe if not for federal and state funding and assistance.

What would that make NOLA and BRLA? Botswana?

Antar may not win the best mayor prize, but he certainly wins the best suit award daily. All he cares about is how good he looks behind a mic.

The City of Jackson needs to remember it was not always the capital and that it is not guarantied to remain so.

Yesterday they found a dead body in the median of the interstate at 3 p.m. It had been there for at least a day.

Lumumba promised to make Jackson "the most radical city in the country" when he was running for office.
The reality is that he will soon be forced aside as an appointed City Manager and a Bankruptcy Judge do the work of paying Jackson's debts. The infrastructure is going to get worse, if that's even possible

Time to relocate it back to Natchez?

Yeah, I come down High St every afternoon. ALL of I55 south was taped off and shut down between High and Fortification.

At some point you have to let Jackson sink or swim by the policies its "leaders" have enacted. I just don't see much long term success being a radical city, when everybody who makes up a tax base has already moved to Brandon, Flowood, Madison, and Clinton.

Even the most ardent supporters can't see any way to swim out of the tsunami of debt that is coming due. City leadership is whistling past the graveyard and hoping to get out of office before TSHTF

Any city who elects a mayor with a name like this deserves what they get.

Yep. FY 2020 is going to have the band aid ripped off discover a large caliber gunshot wound.

Great way to put it. The City is already dead and most of them don't know it

All the JPD officers that can leave should. Good for MBI.

Those cops must be running rackets like crazy in that city.

They were providing motorcycle escorts for drug trucks running through on I-20, just a few years ago
