Well, that would make the Pope wrong then.
That's my point. The church tells Biden he can't take communion because his stance on abortion contradicts church teaching, but they elect a pope who denies perhaps the most important and central docrine of the Christian faith?

No. Because some atheist stating that the pope said something doesn't equal the pope speaking within the confines of the infallibility.

Does he or does he not deny the bodily resurrection of Christ? And is he or is he not the pope?

Or.. perhaps he the man denies it, but he the pope doesn't.

We don't know.

He is.

But the pope isn't always infallible.

Oh. I thought that went along with being the pope.

Claims that the Pope told him that Jesus Christ did not rise bodily from the dead but "in the semblance of a spirit." [/quote]

Believing in the physical resurrection of Jesus goes beyond infallibility. It is one of the most basic components of Christianity

Someone who doesn’t believe this shouldn’t be the leader of the largest Christian church.

That shows you what you know about the papacy. The pope isn't always infallible. In fact...there is only one instance in history where a pope has spoken in ex cathedra and that was back in 1950.

Which is why I call bullshite. The man who says Francis believes this is an avowed atheist. Do the math.

Sweet, Gnosticism, the earliest Christian heresy.

Agree and I'm not usually a defender of this Pope.

This is what some guy claims the Pope said. It's really his interpretation of what he claims the Pope said.

He’s not my pope so I really don’t need to do math.

You should want better despite this story being true or not.

I do want better. However, I'm not going to believe second or even third hand information being put out by an atheist. This isn't the first time this a-hole has misconstrued the pope's words to his benefit.

Isn't transubstantiation a cornerstone of church teachings? I'm no Catholic but this seems as heretical as all get out.

Well, the pope is a self described Marxist...sooo...

Isn't the Roman Catholic Church the Whore of Babylon? Hal Lindsey told me that.

Of course. I don't think that means he can be outright heretical at times he's not issuing express infallible statements, though.

This pope is a communist, so it doesn’t surprise me that he doesn’t really believe the Bible.

I'm still curious as to how he got the Pope before him to "retire" so quickly.
