Don't touch muh social security entitlements!!

Great 2 min clip talking about the calamity the U.S. is running headfirst into.

A lot of this won't matter to the boomers on here, but my children's generation, and their children's generation, are staring down a massive disaster. These are facts.

It’s the third rail for everyone. I’m not sure what Trump and Hillary have to do with it either.

There’s a really big pile of money out there just waiting to be used to fix it.

401k

I’ve said for years sooner or later the government will decide they need it, and they’ll take it.

If you think they can’t or won’t I expect you’ll be wrong.

I’m not gloating about the fact of course. Just seemed a weirdly specific gripe of an OP.

It's a comment made by the guy in the video that goes onto explain the exact phenomenon you refer to - third rail. Can you stop being so insecure about your hero?

To answer your question, that's something I can dream of happening in a 2nd DeSantis term. But I doubt he gets the support.

Unfortunately the last real effort made to address this issue was by Paul Ryan. He was too much of a beta cuck to deliver the message, even though he was 100% spot on.

Sadly I believe you're right and expect I'll be raided eventually

Well. Consider the fact that it's not an entitlement program. You paid your money into with the expectation of getting it back one day (if you live long enough). It's a Ponzi scheme, of course, but legal because it's run by the government.

Best thing to do is to lock the existing funds up and prevent congress from touching it except for the exclusive purpose of returning it to those who have paid into it, and then kill it off.

No one will touch it.

We are going to ride it right off the cliff Thelma and Louise style.

One reason why nobody wants to really do anything about illegal immigrants is because of social security. An illegal uses your social security number to work. He’ll never collect any amounts withheld from his pay and neither will you. It’s free money for the government.

Old people vote. No one will ever have the balls to really reform it.

Social Security is theft anyway. They take for your own retirement and if you die they keep it. You never get what you should be getting if you use a private fund or IRA

They've been drooling over our personal retirement accounts for decades. But they won't use it to fix SS.
Digital currency will open the door for them. 401ks are already digital. They'll either just steal it outright or put an expiration date on it make you use it or lose it.

That depends on how you look at it.

If you retire at 62 and live to 80, you are going to get way more out of it than you put in.

If you kick the bucket before retirement age, your children and spouse will receive some benefits from your earnings.

But if you look at Social Security on the whole, you are using taxes paid today to pay benefits for today. There is no lock box or money bin where your Social Security taxes are sent. The fools in Washington have spent it before it ever reached there. Any extra social security tax collected is used for the general fund.

The only way we right the ship today on Social Security would be to segregate funds from the federal government and adjust rates to match current and future payouts and build a reserve fund with excess taxes collected.

The problem of funding debt interest is a bigger problem than social security. It will eat away at ALL our tax contributions. We will get nothing in return for those dollars paid to debt service. The money has already been spent.

They aren't entitlements.

They are stolen from workers to fund a Ponzi Scheme.

Welfare, Food Stamps, Section 8 Housing, student loan forgiveness etc... are entitlements.

There aren't a lot of things I think will make the masses really go ape----. Seizing 401(k)s might do it.
