I need not “care” to find it entertaining.

0.05% of the population. At least we're getting a good sense as to what portion of the population is the most gullible.

Based on polling data, support for the wall has been around 43%. How are the donations of a few hundred thousand indicative of support levels greater than the already 100M+ currently estimated to support building a wall?
Polls provide some indicatiion of the breadth of support, but this farce demonstrates the (limited) depth of that support.

When EVERY one of Trump’s 63 million voters has written a $1,000 check to build the thing, THEN I will be impressed.

There’s already a thread for this pointless gesture.

Pointless gesture? I disagree. I see it as a grassroots effort by 'patriot' citizens to do what the U.S. government refuses to do.....protect the safety of her citizens. I see the contributions by those 'patriots' as a definitive statement......we need a border wall.

Five billion dollars is a whole lot of money.....but in terms of overall government spending it's really a drop in the bucket. We all want safe neighborhoods. A safe place where our children can play in neighborhood parks. A safe neighborhood where children can gather in the morning to catch the school bus. Now you might argue a wall wouldn't completely protect our children.....but I would argue it's a good start.

So I applaud those who have contributed. I intend to do the same.

Have a great day.

So now the Wall is going to make our streets safe? Lax border security is not the reason for crime rates in this country.

And, while drugs are certainly a contributor to crime rates, the wall is not going to have an effect on drug trafficking.

A wall is a proven commodity in Israel. It works there and it can work here. You squeal like pigs because you fear a fully functional wall/ border security system

in reference to the ladder campaign.

maybe this has been brought up, but wouldn't it be aiding and abetting ? Advertised online lol. I say law enforcement should pay these people a visit and make them understand what it is they are promoting.

My professional opinion is that it would be hard to prove that this gesture is anything more than protected political speech at this point. Now, anyone who actually shows up to the border with a ladder has another thing coming.

I say it's conspiracy to break our immigration laws and a case could be made to stop the campaign.

It is not political speech to raise money to commit an illegal act. Would it be political speech to raise money for ISIS?

Securing the border would make us all safe. We need better laws . The best thing about the citizens paying for the wall is that it would put all of the pressure on the democrats. They have been fighting the wall since Trump brought it up . If the wall is already funded then they fix the rest problems or admit they want open borders.

I didn't say it would make our streets completely safe. Only that it's a good start....and a necessary one IMO.Effective Border Security involves a whole range of options....from an actual wall to monitoring capabilities. Hey we need to do away with 'anchor baby' provisions of the immigration laws. We need to do away with Sanctuary Cities. SC's are insane. We need severe penalties for public officials (including sheriffs, governors, mayors, etc) who openly shield illegals from deportation. Those officials who engage in this kind of activity are breaking the law they have sworn to enforce.

But I doubt I will convince a liberal like you.

Have a good day pilgrim.

Oh come on.

I don't even care about the wall but this becoming the second largest GoFundMe of all time in four days with little to zero media coverage is impressive.

That's a lot of money for GoFundMe to refund to idiots once they either don't hit their goals or are judged to be violating site rules.
