The Kansas voting totals just don’t add up
Posted by ShinerHorns on 8/3/22 at 9:12 am9726
ABORTION BALLOT ISSUE
No 534,134
Yes 374,611
Total 908,745
Governor(R) 450,977
Governor(D) 276,383
Total 727,360
Senate(R) 463,592
Senate(D) 191,047
Total 654,639
Am I really supposed to believe that somehow roughly 180,000 or so people only showed up to vote on one thing? Yeah right. Dominion strikes again.

Something is up in Kansas, but the wording of that issue was terrible. They used wording to confuse the issue. It’s what the Dems do, like spending s bunch of you money and call it an inflation reduction bill, or planned parenthood, when it’s killing your family off…..

Do you have to be a registered party member to vote in a party's primary? Could be they had unaffiliated people who could only vote for statewide ballot issues and couldn't vote in the D or R primaries. That wouldn't be the case in Alabama, but I don't know how Kansas works so I'm just throwing it out there.

It's true. A "yes" vote should have meant you are in favor of allowing abortion restrictions, not the opposite. I'm sure that's part of why this failed.

I’m not even surprised
It’s the libs big rallying cry this year is to save abortion .
They don’t care about anything else

lol, never change. "If I don't like the results of an election, it must be fraud."

That is not an unusual occurrence.

I'm not sure but they do have separate ballots for D, R and non registered. They did not ask me what ballot I wanted when i went to vote. They just handed me an R ballot. I assume this means you have to be registered for a party beforehand to get those ballots.

The wording on the ballot even had propaganda in it. It was terrible.

and unaffiliated in Kansas is more than democrats.
so yes, the unaffiliated showed up and stopped R legislators from changing the constitution.

It's not that surprising. Kansas has a closed primary system so independents can't vote in the party primaries.

I don’t think this is accurate. A 40% difference in vote totals between a ballot initiative and a US senate race would be unlikely.
However, in this case the discrepancy is mostly understandable. Unaffiliated voters could vote on the abortion ballot proposal. And even though you can declare your party on the day of the election if you’re unaffiliated, there could very well have been 200k+ voters who were single issue voters on this issue.

Unaffiliated voters can declare party on the day of the election. Previously affiliated voters can’t change on the day of the election.

exactly. unaffiliated voters did vote to keep the constitution as is.
believe what you want but uninformed paranoia is a bad look.
now you know. like in the three northern new england states the independent voters in Kansas outnumber one of the major parties.
the anti abortion thinker planners put it on the ballot in the primary hoping to sneak by but the INDs showed up.
