The more I read about this and the more I think about it, the more I see that this isn't a canary in the mineshaft regarding how demented this administration has become, it's a water buffalo in the mineshaft.
It is chilling.
Here have the administration not only telling a bald faced lie regarding a very serious matter, we have the administration telling a bald faced lie that they know everyone knows is a bald faced lie. They know everyone knows it is a lie and everyone knows it is a blatant cover up carried out in the light of day and they don't think anyone can or will do anything about it.
The hubris is astounding.
This is dictatorship type shite.

this is either a huge lie covering a massive bit of corruption, OR this administration is officially fricking retarded
i know this argument gets passed around every time Obama "reads about the latest admin crisis in the news," but this would take the cake

I don't belive Eric Holder will look into anything. He is like a defense attorney for the admin rather than attorney general of the GOVT. The new FBI director on the other hand might be the type to launch an investigation but the repubs in congress need to at least bark.

And here is a Vet IT guy explaining that there is noway they lost them:
From reading over the material here it looks like they are hosting emails on their mail server but having users archive older emails to a PST on their machines once their mailbox hits the 500MB limit.
Investigation then needs to shift to what backups of the mail server are available? How far back do they go?
If there are no backups left from that time, what about the recipients? If she is emailing anyone at DoJ or the White House, their email filters will have records of that and unless all the computers of all the recipients have "crashed" then a search through each for emails "FROM: Lerner, Lois" is a simple thing (but time-consuming).
If her computer was ever swapped out or brought in due to some issue, it was most likely backed up. Where are these sorts of backups housed? How long are they kept?
She was mandated to print copies of her important emails and warehouse them. Did she do that? If so, where are they? If not, will she be charged with anything?
There are quite a few ways the information can be found, if Issa & Co are determined enough to find it.

I guess the only conclusion to be drawn is that those emails were so incriminating that the Admin felt their only option was to roll the dice on a Watergate level cover up to prevent them from ever seeing the light of day.
That is telling.

Very much so.

It's a shame that there apparently isn't a current, conservative equivalent of Woodward-Bernstein that could get to the bottom of this.
More than anything else the Obama Administration has concocted, this feels very Nixonian and Watergate-esque.

This administration has already claimed blanket executive privilege to prevent the DoJ from releasing Fast & Furious documents to Congress. I imagine we will see the same thing in this case. The administration has become emboldened courtesy of an apathetic public and an either fanatic or cowed media.
Basically, they just DGAF and will stone wall at every opportunity. Next step may be to wag the dog some and ISIS has politely stepped up to the plate.

Ahh. I would just like to point out that as always, our TD liberals seem to have completely gone AWOL. This thread has a notable absence of them.
But, rest assured. If this story gets any traction in the media, you can bet they'll show up with their talking points.
I personally can't wait for their excuses but one can bet that at the least, "a want" will show up to tell us no one can PROVE they didn't lose the emails.

Same on Democrat Underground.
Story has been up for 16 hours and only 23 posts in response, none of them coherent.
Obviously waiting on the talking points.

Should be solidified sometime this evening or tomorrow morning for the Sunday talk shows - of course, that's not critical as tomorrow is Father's Day - so, we might not get the final package of talking points until Monday morning.

Agreed. They must have released the story to get in front and mitigate damage; Friday afternoon before Father's Day.

They're probably right next to Hillary's Rose Law Firm files.

That's what I was thinking - they were too far out to release before July 4th - so Father's Day is as good a 3-day weekend substitute as any. There is the Stanley Cup, U.S. Open, NBA finals, etc. going on,too.

There's plenty time for a new scandal before July 4th that will need cover. No sense letting this holiday weekend pass.
