As the left continies to rid the party of its center left, we are beginning to see the the new left take control.
Who are they? These are the sons and daughters who are mot playing politics. They are the ones who are willing to throw the opponents in jail.
They are the ones who will appoint the militant arm to positions of power.

The masks are off. Again, their parents were playing politics. The youth fell for the political tacics and want to correct all the "evil". By amy means.
Obama was the beginning of that. His generation has already begun using federal agencies against opponents. Placing polticial activists in certain positions.
He got away with it.
The next generation...Harris, Ellison etc.. these are willing to take it another step and are angry at the rejection.

The aberrant psychology of the hard Left informs their politics completely, and these people are of the old ancient breed that spawned Communism, Nazism, The Khmer Rouge etc. Like those movements, Political Philosophy has totally replaced traditional notions of faith, ethics, personal conduct, fair play, adherence to the Rule of Law etc. They have anger, resentment, ingratitude, lack of humility and violent revenge fantasies.
In short, they are ruled COMPLETELY by their passions, and as such have no real mechanism to step back from the ledge.

I agree, I think there are plenty of people on the right who would have no problem jailing and squashing their liberal opponents without due process. There are plenty of bootlickers on this very board that applaud that kind of shite.
That being said, there seem to be a much higher proportion on the left. Either that or they are much more vocal.
The right seems to be more "leave me the frick alone". The left is all "I will attack you kicking and screaming if I don't get my way!"

I'd point out that "principled Conservatives" refuse to defend their ideals. Realizing that sad fact, the rank and file looked elsewhere.
Said "populist buffoon" is also governing more "Conservatively" than anybody since Reagan. Kinder, gentler and Big Government Bushism having been roundly and sensibly rejected.
