And like I said yesterday, Clyburn is fooling himself if he thinks it's only older black voters. PB only polls 1 or 2% with black voters. Clyburn can't be so stupid that he doesn't know better than that. Blacks PERIOD don't want to vote for an OPENLY* gay candidate.

Does anyone seriously think that they will instead vote GOP in any significant numbers, come the general election? No one capable of rational thought.
Will some stay home? Sure, a few.
Will those who stay home be adequately-numerous to change any Blue state to Red? No.
Will those who stay home be adequately-numerous to change the shading of a few Purple states? Therein lies the only interesting question in this entire line of discussion.
You can be sure that the Dems will field a huge GOTV campaign in those states, aimed at that demographic. It would be interesting to watch.

NIce try. Prop 8 passed in CA with the help of almost 75% of black voters. Every old black person in CA wouldn't add up to 75%. This is one of dems' dirty little secrets, the incredible homophobia of blacks. But they use the word "punk" instead of fig and happily go about their business, with no one calling them out. Only whites get called out for so-called "homophobia."
