I have 7 friends that are registered Republicans who went to vote yesterday, and when they went to vote there was an “error.” It showed them as registers Democrats and they were only allowed to vote democrat.

In Livingston and Washington parishes. There are about 22 more Facebook comments of other people saying it happened to them.

Well, that all sounds delightful. I super enjoy living in a banana republic.

Probably a mistake. Louisiana has Republicans running that area
Sec of State is a Republican.

That's one thing I like about living here in Georgia. You don't register with a party affiliation. When you go to the polls for the primaries you are offered your choice of Democrat or Republican ballot (or another party if there might be one with multiple selections).

You shouldn’t have to register a party affiliation.

So how does this work if I took the democrat ballot at the primary but when the election came, I had a change of heart and wanted to vote Republican?

The parties should pay for THEIR primaries, not the taxpayers.

If this is true the election supervisor needs to be told she must provide at minimum a provisional ballot; and do not leave until it is resolved.

I do not understand states that you can only vote for your own registered party. I saw some say they were Independents and they couldn't vote in the primary.

No wonder ya'll got a shitty Governor.

Then you just vote for republican in the general.

Party affiliation is only for primaries.

You don’t register for a party in TN either. You just point at the R or D if it is a primary election to get the proper ballot.

your party affiliation only matters for the presidential primaries. In every other election you have an open primary where all candidates run and you get the top two

I choose which ballot I want when I vote in the primaries here in Virginia. Unfortunately, about half of the electorate are fedgov bureaucrats living in the DC burbs of northern Virginia that swing the state to the dems more often than not these days.
I was born and raised in Georgia, and I see that over half of the population there now resides in metro Atlanta. If things don't change drastically, it too, will be neo-commie territory in just a little while. In 16 Trump didn't carry a single county in the metro ATL. Not a good sign at all for the future.

I don't agree with it, but it makes sense. The Party is choosing its candidate. The Party wants input from their Party members, aka those registered as members of their Party.

That's the good thing about Texas: you can choose when you arrive at the polls.
