The threatened shutdown has seemed (at least somewhat) to be drawing out those who want to play and wouldn’t necessarily allow themselves to be distracted by the desire to go SJW during the season ike the NBA and other pro leagues. Now for many it’s obvious the desire is to cash in and get into those leagues, but for the moment, I would hope that if we see these conferences striking out on their own and forging ahead they will see fit to leave the NCAA’s political activism behind and focus only on the game, for the sake of the athletes and fans alike.

If anything good could come out of this, it would be the death of the NCAA...

Agreed, I cringe at the thought of them doing some BLM or kneeling BS like they do in pro sports as I'd probably just quit watching like I plan to do if the NFL actually plays. At the same time, I know many schools will likely lose some big donors if they were to do such things

There's a difference between ' concern ' and getting on both knees and ...

This is a classic example of killing the golden goose. Don't like the arrangement? Fine. Earn your own g-damn money, go to the college of your choice and take classes.

Don't freaking play.

Cowards.

I find it interesting that a network established to promote sports is the leading advocate for cancelling sports in the election year of 2020.

Of course players want to play, this is their only chance to try and show scouts their talent to make $ in a year or 2.

I guess the continuing saga is for nobody to expect logic or even common sense to ever come from the Left. TDS is a mental disorder.

At this point, you really shouldn't.

Lefties will cut off their nose to spite their face if they think it will "own the cons".

I’m thinking in a different direction.

ESPN has huge money tied up in those TV contracts. If teams don’t play this year, it arguably voids the deals and gives ESPN an out to either renegotiate or just drop some conferences completely.

That’s a huge amount of money they can save in the long term as they continue to hemorrhage money for Disney.

The small college towns like Auburn, Starkville, Oxford, Tuscaloosa, etc, will get kill financially if the season is cancelled. The catch phrase "defund the police" will be much greater than that. Defund Everything will be very likely.

Aww. Just think of those little flyover or drive by burgs as collateral damage in the fight for the greater (Marxist) cause.
