Well, I would like to say that this news is disappointing BUT anyone that works in the print industry that has not seen this shite coming from a long way off either is not paying attention or just cannot face reality...
Maybe they can learn to code...

Sucks to be non-essential

“Exceptional growth in print and digital subscriptions”
“bracing” for a “decline in advertising”
Liberal math.
Fake news media company spreads fake business outlook. So pathetic.

Didn’t the Obamas claim the seas would lower if he were elected?
The levels of The Atlantic sure seem to be going down under Trump.

This isn't a scalable model in today's world. Even ESPN struggles with subscriptions for print material.

The problem with print is that data moves so much faster today and the barriers to publishing are almost nonexistent.
Daily papers struggle because most of the news they used to report via wire reports is now freely accessible online.
Most monthly or quarterly publications have similar problems as what would have been an exclusive to them in years past can now be published by any number of individuals quickly.
Penny Arcade nailed this phenomenon well over a decade ago by lampooning how gaming magazines would die a quick death since the internet had made them obsolete.

They’re average people trying to sound smart and sophisticated.
