So your argument is that the first Gulf War was ill-advised?

I’d have been cool with sending weapons and training Kuwait soldiers. Other countries nearby could have sent troops there. Iraq invading another country is different anyways. Kuwait is a sovereign country needing our help, the Kurds have been offered help by Damascus and Russia, they are currently receiving help now from France and Germany. Kurdistan doesn’t exist, Syria is a sovereign country and does not want us there. No, American kids shouldn’t be dying in Syria. There are villages in Africa everyday getting slaughtered but I don’t see you wanting to help them. Kurds only fight hard when protecting their own interests. They didn’t do shite to protect yazidis and Christians when ISIS ran through them. In one area peshmerga had twice the men and still fled and left yazidis to be captured. They don’t care about us like you think they do, and that’s coming from a family member who trained them

Nobody ever responds to my “No Americans should be dying in Syria” comment. I wonder why. I mean do people think Americans should be dying in Syria? Would any poster who disagrees be on with their son dying in Syria to protect Kurds, when Kurds have already been offered protection from other countries but refused it?

I'm fine with helping them.

Good to know. It's always more complex than portrayed.

I'm fine with your viewpoint. I don't want Americans dying in Syria. I don't agree with your use of "your sons", though. People in the military are adults with agency of their own.

That could have resulted in American deaths. Why was that worth it for Kuwait?

True, I could get over my kid dying in WW2 after the Japanese bombed us. Maybe not get over, but understand. I wouldn’t be able to if killed in fricking Syria, Vietnam, or Iraq. I respect the ones who fought there, and the ones who lost friends and family there. That’s why I don’t want anymore going in there.
