Hmmm, a familiar story from yesteryear.
And the SoS office says user error for the record.
Texas voters casting early ballots claim voting machines are switching their ballot choices
LINK
Voters casting their ballots early in Texas claimed this week that when casting Democratic or Republican straight-ticket ballots, voting machines in at least 80 counties in the Lone Star State flipped their votes to the other party in key midterm races, including the high-profile competition between incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz and his Democratic opponent Beto O'Rourke.
The Texas secretary of state's office on Friday said that there have been issues reported with Hart eSlate voting machines, which are used in approximately 30 percent of counties statewide. The machines feature a wheel for selecting candidates and buttons to move from screen to screen."

I heard the commission answer was just vote for each individual candidate. Problem solved. fricking government.

I hate straight ticket voting, so I understand your point, but hopefully it's not the machines.

What else could it be if it's doing it both ways. I'd advise any voter to check that grocery store ticket printout they give you just to make sure of your vote. I did.

In Dallas we get a sharpie and a scantron. Is it not the same everywhere across the state, or are they saying the scantron is reading ballots incorrectly?

Voted in Dallas this morning no problem at all.

Negative. I've voted 4 times in 2 different precincts in Dallas County since 2012. Both precincts used sharpies and scantrons.
I've voted in Houston too, but I can't remember how it worked there.

Pee Paw and Mamaw, electronic voting and Facebook are a terrible combination.

Texas Voting machines changing votes again...
Elections in this country have been rigged for 100 years....minimum.

I don't trust things without a paper trail.
Even if I "verify" my selections on the digital screen are correct before I push the final button... how do I know they are recorded properly? For all I know, they could be flipped behind the scenes, with no visible clue to the user.

I didn't have scantrons, and I'm in Dallas.

What did you have? Was it a paper ballot?

How about dedicated circuits for each choice..no possibility of getting rerouted to any other choice?
Why does this happen? There are literally 100s of millions of transactions a day being processed via credit card scans with any mistake being rare.
We have not yet developed the technology to accurately track a vote for...dis guy...or dat guy..or maybe dat other guy, without mixing them up??
I don't buy the repeated "problems" happening every voting cycle.

We are required by statute to have a uniform voting system for the entire state in GA. In the 80s and 90s, this was not the case. Seems like it would make elections operations for statewide candidates much more challenging, especially when needing to assess potential recounts and litigation, if counties were using different voting systems. I’ve always found that strange about TX elections. Is this always an issue?

Fortunately our county retired the electronic machines. We have computer generated paper ballots now.
(There is still an electronic reader, but at least we have a paper backup!)

Likely since Texas allows each county to decide how it wants to hold them.
Our county retired all-electronic ones and went to computer generated paper ballots. Other counties allow the voter to choose either paper or electronic.

It was a digital screen and they put some kind of cartridge in it.
