It's a shame that people have to got through this for their rights under the law but props for the DC kicking them in the balls.

I see it daily while working on commercial loans in the banking sector. It is a common error and can be avoided by using $9K as an alternative to $9M . . . But $9M should not be used for $9,000,000.

use "M" to refer to thousand and "MM" for million all the time. It is how barrels of oil are labeled.

I get the M and MM because of the Roman numeral aspect, and without context I could maybe see why he said 9000, but it specifically says in the article "nine million."
Which tells me he's foreign and/or works in the financial/oil industry based on the posts in here...and most importantly, he didn't read the article.

I have seen it used in the engineering field once or twice but that’s it. I don’t think it’s very common.

Calm down and read the whole thread. I did not point out the error, someone else did. When the discrepancy was questioned I offered a link to clarify the matter. If any part of my posts came off as bitching, then I apologize. My intent was only to clarify an earlier question about the abbreviation.

The headline said 9,000, but the article said 9 million. Because I like to be accurate, I actually clicked on the little hyperlink that said “ruling,” and what do ya know, it was actually the Judge’s ruling. It said 1,500 per violation for a total of 9,000.

WTF. I support the second amendment, but din’t Think it is a good idea to bring guns to legislative bodies or major sporting events. Recipe for mass murder.
