Taking people's savings (SS) away would be no different than cleaning out bank accounts

and stock accounts and nationalizing those funds. At some point you could cut it off and say no more government managed forced savings for people entering the work force. But the actual refund of people's and their employer's money would be an impossible under taking in a democratic and free society. Aside from the breaking of a contract. It would take a change to a socialist dictatorship that wanted to kill off dependent people to do that. And enslave the rest.

If you are referring to social security, it was always just a tax.
It was never your savings or retirement account.
It was never your savings or retirement account.

Now you know how everybody younger than a Boomer feels every time we see a portion of our paycheck disappear knowing it won’t be there when we are eligible.

The fact is it’s a Ponzi scheme..the aren’t paying you out of “your” savings, that was spent long ago. They are stealing money from your children/grandchildren to pay you...

why would it be refunded? it's a welfare scheme
do you expect all the other taxes you've paid for welfare to be refunded?

Social Security:
It’s a glorified tax, that was disguised as a retirement account, but it never actually belonged to you. It is United States Treasury property.
Never was fair.
Always was the Tax and Spend politicians piggy bank.
Never was post war sustainable, and became worse with every expansion of payouts starting in the 1960s.
Now when they come after your IRAs and 401Ks, that were created because SS was clearly a deadman walking, that would be cleaning out bank accounts.
Anyone think the likes of Bernie or AOC would blink before cleaning out any bank accounts?!

Quit your fricking whining about boomers. I'm a boomer and I've paid into SS my entire life. You expect me to now throw my hands up and say - hey Esquire, you can have my SS so you can be happy. Read your history dipshit. Boomers are not the generation responsible for SS. It was initiated in 1937 by a democrat, FDR.
You're a real dumbass for pointing the finger at me for the blame of SS.

But Jimdog,
They are already cleaning out your bank accounts with an invisible tax.
It’s called inflation. The number one job of the Federal Reserve System is to maintain inflation. The dollar we made in the 80s can only purchase 15 cents today!
The invisible thief of inflation stole 85% of your money. No safe in the universe is theft proof from the Feds. This forces you to put your money at risk just to keep ahead of the Fed thief. Of course you get to pay visible taxes to the IRS when you do!

Boomers didn’t creat SS but y’all have elected politicians that have raided it and expanded it beyond comprehension and refused to have the resolve to fix it and kicked the can down the road.

Wrong. Our SS goes directly 100% into a separate brokerage account. I invest in equities. I get the benefit of dollar cost averaging and by the time I get to my 80s there will be enough in the account to take care of any assisted living costs I have. My philosophy is save brother not spend.
If any is left over after this it will go to charity.

you paid into a welfare program

Boomers have had 30 years of power to dismantle SS and instead you're trying to frick over Gen X and Millenials because you were too weak to fix it. either we go without or you go without and it's clear you're acting selfish

Well I'll be, another crybaby. You think boomers are the only generation that was voting during this time you allege? Damn, you people are really not clued in very well are you?

OH look at me! My generation has been in power for 3 decades but we never had power. Oh no, don't criticize me for the reality we face today.

It’s simple..the merry go round has to stop sometime..the longer it spins the more people that will be hurt when it stops. Anyone who refuses to acknowledge that SS isn’t sustainable is being intentionally obtuse because they stand to lose if it stops now....but we all stand to lose.

And so has GenX and millennials. Gen Z will too.

Glad you agree with me. The crying by non-boomers about SS who blame the boomers is pretty immature political thinking.

No, GenX and Millenials realize we'll never see a penny of our SS.
Boomers are still the largest voting block by far, and there is no way in hell they'll let SS be touched in any way, shape, or form.
