Remember the fight for a $15 minimum wage when President Joe Biden entered office? That’s so passé.

For the past year, a larger share of people have been searching for $20-an-hour jobs, not $15, according to an Indeed Hiring Lab report. As of Aug. 14, the share of searches for a $20 hourly wage has grown 35.5% year over year, compared to a 57.3% decline in searches for $15, it said.

The push to make $15/hr the minimum wage is resulting in people who do not consider themselves minimum wage workers to want to wages higher than $15/hr? Which of course will led to even more inflation. I seem to remember the PT board predicting this back in 2015 when the push for $15 per hour minimum wage started.

And even at 15 an hour, everyone thinks they should be getting paid more.

I am just shocked

Wait, you’re saying that increasing the minimum wage to $15/hr or higher will cause prices to increase? But the people making more money will have more money to spend. I don’t understand.

Quickest way to raise wages at this level of the workforce? Eliminate the minimum wage.

With a straight face, y’all think minimum wage should continue to be $7.25, like it’s been since 2009?

The minimum wage should be eliminated altogether.

That’s never going to happen, you can preach it all you want, but that’s just the reality. At this point, it’s doing more harm having minimum wage at $7.25 than it would raising it to $15. Everything is already inflated, prices are through the roof for goods, cost of living is ridiculous, raising minimum wage won’t have any affects anymore, everything is already inflated, it’s just catching up.

It might be reality, but it's also retarded. People who understand nothing about economics should not be making economic policy.

They don't understand long term consequences, which is insane, because this would have devastating long term economic consequences.

But yet they think if we stop driving cars, stop eating meat, and stop using electricity it will save the planet.

If you favor a federal minimum wage, what do you say to the owner of a dry cleaners in Nutter Fort, WV, who is required to pay his five employees the same wage as a dry cleaners in San Jose, CA?

Neither should you. You’re rationale is exactly why we are in a worker’s shortage, leading to inflated prices of goods. If the minimum wage would have stayed consistent, staff shortages wouldn’t be as severe causing the prices of goods to increase by 8-40%.

I’m not particularly in favor of a minimum wage, I’m just saying that it’s not going anywhere. It’s an unpopular opinion among voters to do away with a federal minimum wage and no politician is going to touch that.

Just get rid of minimum wage and let the market decide what to pay for jobs.
