particularly in humanities and social sciences

The conservative students have lower GPAs in college but had higher GPAs in high school.

quote:

will have a couple of professors that just people on the right and center-right know either don’t take that class, or if you take that class you have to pretend a certain way, or there could be issues,” Maranto pointed out.

I doubt this will surprise anyone who doesn't live in fairytale land.

FIFY

This from the "no kidding" file. Thing is, since almost everyone employed by colleges are leftist, no one really cares if conservatives get screwed.

I’m sure my massive alcohol and coke habit had a little more to do with my piss poor grades than being punished for my conservative views...

Although I do suspect they had a bit to do with my English 2000 grades. Appealed and got a D replaced with an A

That this is obviously true really shouldn't have even required a "study".

We're talking about people who openly say that all ideas counter to their own amount to some form of bigotry.

By definition, this would mean making any arguments in a persuasive paper that didn't line up with theirs would be considered invalid on their face.

This happens all the time.
My friend went to Michigan. First day of Freshman English, his prof said “everyone who is pro choice on this side of the class, everyone who hates women over there.”

I'm absolutely SHOCKED that nutjob progressive TDS afflicted college professors would discriminate against non-Leftwing students.

Shocked, I tell ya.

Hell, they did this 30 years ago. Can't imagine how bad it is now.

I think the key here is that bias is easier to hide with subjects that deal in less objective grading.
IE, on a math test if you get 90% of the problems right then there's nothing the teacher can do.

But let's say that a 19 year old Laurence Olivier is taking Interpretation of Dramatic Literature and the leftist teacher knows that Laurence is in the Young Conservative Club. For the final he does a brilliant scene from Shakespeare's Othello.

Teacher: "I'm sorry, Laurence, but I don't think it's appropriate for a white person do try that role. D+"

Sounds like a lot of entitled whiners who didn't develop work ethics in HS and so struggled with grown up thinking.

They had higher standardized test scores, too. It's in the article.

LSU had a black professor years ago (maybe 1987ish), a Dr Coombs or Professor Combs, who taught a summer session that was cross referenced with Southern University students . I think the name of the course was Public Policy. He openly and unapologetically told us he was instituting his own racial affirmative action grading scale. Kids who disagreed with anything he said were absolutely also targeted for ridicule and scorn. I somehow made a B that was a micro point off of an A while mono-syllabic students destined to be State bureaucrats breezed through with perfect scores. It amused him to frick white students and he felt completely justified.

I absolutely was.

As a bright eyed naive idealistic freshman, my English 101 Composition class was taught by a guy from Berkeley. The theme was racism. Every essay, every reading, every discussion for every class of the semester was racism.

I wrote a challenging, conservative essay. It was not racist at all but it did challenge and question pc viewpoints on race. He gave me an F and called me out (albeit anonymously) in class, saying that he was insulted and offended.

Not wanting to die on a particular small and unimportant hill in my grand plan of excelling in college and going to law school and becoming a lawyer, I went to his office for a sit down. I essentially made it seem like he was educating me, developing me, enlightening my mind. I talked with him again a few times throughout the semester.

I gave him what he wanted in the essays, which was your stereotypical pc bs. I did well on the remaining work and got a B out of the class. Then I gtfo out of there.

Sounds like you are talking about your brown shirts, antifa or much of the prison population.
Most importantly, you sound like an idiot.

Had a history professor who did this. Gave me a zero on a couple of papers because he disliked the source. Which was Newsweek, the same source everyone else was using

This grade discrepancy is even more evident in the humanities and social sciences, as compared to the more objective STEM fields.

Was there grade discrepancy in STEM fields?
