I think many of us are disappointed with the way college and pro sports in this country have allowed politics to so deeply and one-sidedly infiltrate the games.

Many on here have stated that they are done with certain leagues and teams based on this fact. They feel the only way to counter is to hit them in the bottom line. While it is correct that a major drop off in ratings would certainly show them that they made a mistake, I think it is unlikely that enough people actually boycott watching to really effect them. This is especially true during the pandemic when people need distraction more than ever.

I want to get people's opinions on realistic strategies that might achieve the goal of cutting down on revenues to these leagues. Online streaming would be the most obvious one to me.

I'm just not going to watch. I'll probably be more productive anyway.

If you don't like their product, don't consume it.

I don’t hope they fail at all. I couldn’t care less. I just don’t want to see the politics so I’m not going to watch.

You can only worry about yourself. If you don't agree, and think you need to stop watching and not buying product to be true to yourself do it, and let the rest sort it self out.

Just to let you know. I'm not watching.

I wouldn't be so sure. This isn't the first time they've offended everyone. How many times does it take before people have had enough?

They're due for a massive boycott and I think this year they may have finally pushed things too far.

This.

I'm not going to block a freeway or terrorize entire communities for this. I'm not an a-hole.

I can only control my own actions.

None of these leagues/teams will receive a moment of my attention or a penny of my money until which time they remove all politics from their platform(s).

The NFL can't win me back, nor can the NBA. We'll see what happens with college football, baseball and basketball.

I watched sports for sports entertainment, not to have ideological political propaganda shoved in my face.

What’s funny is when the game is on, I just See sports.

It’s all the other times of day that I see the politicking from both sides.

Whistle to whistles it’s all still sports.

Stop watching the 24/7 hour news cycle around sports.

Just watch the games.

Don't watch it. Cancel cable and go hunting or fishing.

Don't watch, don't buy their products, don't buy products of the companies that advertise with them. That is the only thing we can do and it has to be in large numbers. Revenue goes in the dumper they will take notice.

Again, who cares.

You can barely see any special decals or patched on uniforms and I’m not watching the mound I’m watching the pitcher on it.

Again, just get out of your own head.

Just like I didn’t buy anymore Zatarains products while they had a patch on the Pelican’s jerseys (I’ve always bought their crawfish boil)

Don't pay for cable television. At all. Even if you don't watch channels on it you are paying for them. If you absolutely have to have sports, split a streaming service between you and a couple of friends. Don't buy merch. Don't go to games.

Then, if you are like me, you can afford another week of vacation a year with the money you save.

Only reason many of us have cable or satellite is for sports.

Time to cut the cord for the 3rd and final time. Just sever the electron propaganda pipeline, since the leagues cater only to corporate sponsors and not fans.
