Sounds like today’s briefing should be good

The new guidelines, expected to be announced Thursday, are aimed at clearing the way for an easing of restrictions in areas with low transmission of the coronavirus, while keeping them in place in harder-hit places. The ultimate decisions will remain with governors.
With Texas’ plan being announced tomorrow, we should start getting better clarity soon.

Trump told the clowns yesterday “see you tomorrow. Big, big day tomorrow.”

good. let the power hungry, mini dictators hang themselves when their citizens see the rest of the country going back to normal

President Trump ended yesterday's briefing by saying something like, "Big day coming tomorrow. Big news."
I think we will see the beginning of the rollout plan for getting back to work. Maybe as basic as simply announcing who will be on the re-opening taskforce, or perhaps going even further and identifying some states that are ready to begin getting back to normal and setting some dates for when they will start up.

Texas will be a good test because every bit of data out there says this party is just getting started there, they are either going to get their arse kicked by the corona or be just fine, and a lot of questions will be answered either way.

Gonna be awesome when JBE gets him self re-called while he goes down screaming about how we need to protect ourselves from ourselves.

How so? We’ve had cases state-wide for a while but testing has been aggressive and overall management has been successful. We have hot spots like many states but it’s not like our numbers are that high.
The DFW metroplex has a population of 6.3 Million
DFW Metro coronavirus TOTAL cases: 4,333
DFW Metro coronavirus TOTAL DEATHS: 109
DFW Metro coronavirus RECOVERED CASES: 591

Not a single thing has shown me that testing is aggressive here. I live in Houston. It's just been in the last couple of weeks that folks have even been able to get tested. Maybe Monday it was that we had a big spike in cases? That big spike was due to just getting some results from March! Although I don't feel we have a big issue with Covid, we have one of the lowest testing rates in the whole nation.

I’m not familiar with testing in Houston but it’s been readily available in DFW for several weeks. Drive thru testing lines have become much shorter and we can now get tested at a variety of doctor offices and urgent care centers. Perhaps that’s a Houston issue?

The projections have not been 100% correct but they have been as accurate as possible when dealing with peaks in various states considering we are learning as we go.
For example they say peak has passed in LA but it is still 2 weeks away in TX.
I hope it is wrong.

Projections have been severely flawed, at best, to date. However, even using those numbers, they are projecting 2,704 COVID-19 deaths by August 4th in a state of 29 million people.

That prediction is based on the state being shut down.
I dont know how correct they are or not but have noticed they are getting better as they learn.
We shall see what happens if they decide to open back up, I am not smart enough to know the answer, however there is nothing special about TX or Texan's DNA so we should learn a lot whichever way it goes.
re: Sounds like today’s briefing should be goodPosted by MusclesofBrussels on 4/16/20 at 9:19 am to KwoodTiger
I feel like these guidelines are going to be too conservative. Almost no area in the country outside of NY should still have a shutdown after May 1st.

Wrong answer...Dallas and Houston big fricking deal. Nothing going on in the rest of the State. So what if culls the illegal herd.

I don’t know why that made me giggle. Maybe bc born Texans would disagree vehemently.
Texas won’t be reopened fully for a while. I believe many people will continue to work from home if they can do so effectively and social distancing will continue in public places. I’m sure there won’t be large gatherings for concerts, sporting events, etc at least until the Fall. Face masks will probably be recommended for public outings.
I’m sure the cases will be higher than they would be if we remained shut down but even those higher numbers aren’t enough to justify continuing current measures. This is the equivalent to administering chemo when an anti-viral Rx would work.
