Isn't it just another nickname for the South? Why are some people so eager to deracinate Southerners, and make us just like them?

The war against historical perspective was started unknowingly by Roosevelt and his "new-deal" liberalism cronies. His wife was just about as communist as they come and actively lobbied her husband to stay out of WW2 because of a personal hatred of Lord Churchill and his aristocratic title.
We used to have the "Dixie Living" section in the Atlanta Constitution which was the morning newspaper and it was retained when the papers were combined at some point in the 60-70's era.
Long gone today.... Can't have that or Stuart avenue in black land city today.

There was a restaurant in Dallas called Dixie house. Best comfort food ever and a ton of food.

Or, there is no reason, because requiring reasons for hating things is racist.
