Wasnt that the mantra by some on here, especially by Displaced?

Advertisers are guaranteed so many eyeballs. If not, they get free ads. Run during prime spots
quote:

As a result, ad revenue for NFL broadcasters like CBS Corp., Comcast Corp.’s NBC, Walt Disney Co.’s ESPN and 21st Century Fox Inc. fell 19 percent in the first two months of the season, according to Standard Media Index.

“The effects of the lower audiences last year are spilling into this season,” said James Fennessy, chief executive officer of the advertising research firm.

That's almost a billion (yeah, with a B) in lost revenue. I don't care who you are, that leaves a mark

To be fair, I’m not “boycotting “. But, I am watching way less because it has become a nearly unwatchable mess with flags thrown every time a DB breathes on a WR or a QB gets touched.

So, for me, it is product quality driven.

Unfortunately the networks are tied into a long term contract, and their contract with the NFL does not include penalties for less viewers. It will impact the NFL for the next contract but not now. And the players certainly have seen no impact on their income, which is the real problem.

I haven't watched Pro Football in over 20 years and I see no reason to start again.

I was astounded to learn that young leftist millennials are packing the Falcons stadium to watch Atlantas MLS soccer team.

These aren't sports fans like were used to - these are the type who also fill Portland and Seattle and who unironically wave gay flags and chant about diversity and shite.

Really weird times

It will affect the next contract and then affect player salaries and franchise value. Give it time and it will have the desired effect. Keep in mind that the primary support for player salaries is the TV contract and corporate sponsorship...not ticket sales. In an era before this when ticket sales drove player salaries th at were a tiny fraction of what they are tpday.

Same. But mainly due to time constraints.

I was at the MNF game between the Texans and Titans last week and put this in perspective that you won’t see on TV.

The game was a divisional game
The Texans were on an 8 game win streak
It was Monday Night Football
The owner literally just died 2-3 days prior
They draped a huge American flag that covered 50% of the field
The attendance although pretty full, wasn’t actually full
Had seats in the upper deck and ended up on the 50 yd line in the 2nd quarter
Oh....

And everyone stood during the honoring of the military.

I’ve watched a few of the Saints big games this year but otherwise I don’t care much.

For me, its a combo. I dont want politics shoved down my throat with my entertainment.

And all this player safety crap, these are modern day gladiators. Im not wasting my time watching 2 hand touch that I can play in the back yard.

I’m on year two of the boycott. I’ve only put on one game and that was because we hosted Thanksgiving last year and the family wanted it on in the background.

This shite right here.

NFL is so incredibly blind its sad.

They finally cut the kneeling crap out only to instill crazy delicate penalties in almost every phase of the game. I get it, safety reasons, but its gotta stop.

I don't watch as much mainly because of the stupid penalties.
