quote:Well based on what we know:
To be fair, unless we get a good bit of clarification from the op, there's not a lot of math in this thread that makes any sense.
$440,000 average price with 10% gross profit margin = $44,000 profit margin
$440,000 - $44,000 = $396,000
$396,000 + $11,000 = $407,000
$407,000 / $396,000 = 1.0278
1.0278 - 1 = 0.0278
0.0278 * 100 = 2.78%
So it looks like his costs increased more like 2.78%, nowhere close to 25% though.
Edit: Nowhere near 25% in added costs, but that would still be 25% of margin.

Sounds like the OP is getting lied to. Apparently someone is telling him they have to add 11K due to tariffs that haven't even been implemented yet.

or you just drank a lot of kool aide this morning. Not every company benefits from the elimination of regulations. Has there been a regulation eliminated that his company could have benefited from? So it's okay if his business takes a hit due to steel tariffs because of the tax cut?

Link? I'm not arguing against the OP or for the tariffs.
Your shite is getting as tiresome and predictable as GumboPot's CTH stenography or CptBengal's unmedicated schizophrenia

I didn't see his per unit clarification. Yes, your math now makes sense.

'm not arguing against the OP or for the tariffs. I'd say the majority on this board are against the tariffs.
It's hard to say, because the protectionism advocates are so devoted and may compensate for a lack of numbers with posting intensity. But it seems to me the majority supports them or is looking for a reason to support them
Wish we could do a reliable poll thread on the issue

Look at how upset you are getting over what was a harmless remark. Then again, I am talking to a 30 + year old professional who is into anime.

Isn't your company making a boatload more money from the corporate tax cuts and elimination of regulations?

No it's not.
The tariff is still currently PROPOSED.

US Steel to restart Illinois plant
Nope. You better correct them then.

No offense, but you trying to use $11k as some huge number is a bit misleading when it is less than a 3% increase on the cheapest of your range and least than 2% on your most expensive.
It sucks, but acting like this is some massive hike is ridiculous and just because you and these companies benefited from bad trade deal issues, doesn't mean others hadn't suffered.
"Americuh" Right? Until of course you actually have to pay a share.

What do you think the surcharge will be after Red Chinese subsidized steel manufacturing drives all other competitors out of business?
Or any other product for that matter? Do you think they subside the industry because they want the consumer to get a swinging deal?
Short sighted round-eye.

"going" is future tense.
The OP is talking in present tense.
I mean, if we can't get the basics of the English language correct, at a rudimentary level, the discussion is going to be a huge waste of time.
