I know its satire, but it really shows how the Clinton's were constantly in scandal. Amazing how SNL would rather be dead than speak out against HRC.

The difference there is the difference between Norm MacDonald and Seth Myers.

Norm MacDonald was pretty apolitical, but said he believed Reagan was a great president.

Seth Myers is just another stereotypical 2017 libtard. At least we have him to thank for President Trump.

While they may have gone further left, could it also be that in a campaign, there are two choices of candidates to mock, rather than only the person in power between campaigns?

Besides, Trump is a far more interesting person than Hillary, and his public persona, is far more quirky than Hillary's lack of one.

So when choosing to mock someone, would you rather choose the person who is boisterous with little filter, even participating in WWE, or the person who is unsocial with very little personality and just plain boring?

I mean they weren't exactly making fun of Romney at this point in 2013.

I'm with you b_vol. SNL caught a lot of heat here for not ripping Obama more, but the truth is that Obama was the lamest President since Eisenhower. After that you had:

Chowdah
Jed Clampett
Satan
Klutz
Peanut farmer
Short term memory loss
Flanders
Tubby
Nucular
....

And then a black guy who isn't funny. Of course, you could have made the Obama character totally gangsta, but that wouldn't fly. Now we have Trump, who is comedy gold.

I have a question you might know since you are somewhat on the inside:

How much "anger" is there towards the HRC campaign among operatives and party employees/strategists? The stories I read post-election highlighted some egregious tactical errors and outright refusal to change some strategy despite on-the-ground warnings from swing state organizers.

Was there a particular person within the campaign that was shutting down the nay-sayers?

Or McCain in 2009 or Kerry in 2005 or Gore in 2001 or Dole in 1997 or Bush in 1993. Poliboard gonna Poliboard.

Mook Palmieri Podesta and Hillary were the main culprits.

Bill Clinton was the only one with a voice who was ringing the alarm bells, but he had been shut out because of his past.

Nobody is blaming Mook enough - he ran the worst strategic campaign in history.

From 1993 on? No they didn't. I'm an expert on the show from that era. Carvey hosted a couple times in the 1990's so he was revisited there, and Bush himself made an appearance via satellite on a Carvey-hosted show. Carvey left the show in 1992, and Hartman's Clinton took over the political aspect of the show. Other than that, Bush was done.

SNL is shite. Like Colbert. Smarmy milquetoast with a hint of cheese. Try hard but only smelly underarms appreciate the burnt wire humor.

You granolas understand!

Are people actually pretending that SNL is being hilariously satirical and not attacking the President?

Can you give me some of your least favorite Bush ribs from 2009 on? Which cast member(s) played Bush after 2009?

I'm not saying I have any least favorites. I really don't care, but they definitely used him for comedy. Also, why 2009 on? Obviously they're going to rip him only while he's in office. Will Ferrell has brought him back into the fold of SNL.

Will Ferrell

quote:

During the 2000 campaign and first year of his presidency, Bush was portrayed on Saturday Night Live by Will Ferrell, who emphasized the innocent, childlike aspect of the character (in one skit Jeb Bush (played by Val Kilmer) gives George a toy to play with so he can talk with Al Gore). Ferrell played Bush from 1999 to 2002, until he departed from the show. Cast member Chris Parnell took over the portrayal of Bush when Ferrell left. Since Parnell's impression was not as popular as Ferrell's, cast member Darrell Hammond was selected to replace him as Bush in late 2003. Hammond made only two appearances as Bush, and was replaced by cast member Will Forte in 2004. Forte chose to portray Bush as less innocent and more nervous. Although Forte's portrayal was far more popular than either Parnell's or Hammond's, it was never as well-received as Ferrell's. Newer cast member Jason Sudeikis took over the role from Forte in 2006 for unexplained reasons. Will Ferrell reprised the role when he hosted.

Talking about former Presidents. SNL doesn't really go after people who aren't Presidents. Also, losers of elections. Hillary isn't getting the business right now; neither did Romney, nor McCain, nor Kerry, nor Gore, nor Dole after they lost their respective elections.
