Since when is the "Don't Tread on Me" flag racist?

I was going to put one up but have promptly been told it's a racist symbol now. Is there anything we can have without it being called racist?

i have a us flag and gadsen flag directly under it on a 20' flagpole in my front yeard. i DNGAF what people say and my wife has many liberal friends.

I wore a Browning arms shirt with the "Don't tread on Me" snake over on the mainland last week and got a few stares and didn't know why until the girl at the checkout counter told me some people view that symbol as racist now.
I told her that's silly nonsense as snakes don't discriminate...
