Hospitals are being paid by the government for their Covid patients. Of course they’re going to inflate the numbers at a time they’re hemorrhaging money.

Just because you're a janitor at a hospital doesn't mean you're in the medical field

So count all 30% as negative?

Count all 30% as positive?

County half and half?

Flip a coin?

I believe most of us think the people with the virus are exponentially more than being reported, but the deaths from it are being inflated based off of a couple of reasons. One, not everyone is being tested, and we constantly hear there are plenty asymptomatic people out there. Second, the criteria for labeling someone as dying from CV19 seems to be flawed. If a person with a heart condition has a heart attack while driving and plows into a tree was it the heart attack or the tree that killed them?

Well, if you have 2 wrongs that are 180 degree different from each other and you divide by zero...

my gf's department is laying off employees left and right, she's a radiologist, figured you wouldn't be laying off people in the medical field right now huh, Andy?

I don't completely denounce this because it is at least plausible although I'd suggest it was probably more inaccurate when we first started testing and is probably way lower than 30% now....BUT I'd need some hard data to look at to throw my hat in either direction.

As another who works in medical field; show me your data.

ETA: I am well versed in false positives, negatives, and positive predictive values as well as ROC so please do not try to BS me. Thanks.

One preprint paper relying on biological specimens from 213 patients in China suggested a false-negative rate as high as 30 percent.

OK your 30% came out of China....so that means there a 100% chance it is bullshite.

Try again.

Lol
With all of the rapid testing that is coming out, we are being told there is a higher false negative rate. It makes sense.

Wouldn't it stand to reason that there would also be a high rate of false positives, meaning the test isn't that reliable.

BTW - I don't think the numbers in the U. S. are inflated, except for the deaths. For healthy individuals, it seems this thing is about as troublesome as a gnat on a pig's arse. It preys on the weakest among us. We should rename it "Darwin Virus."
