A few things to consider.....jbe is still a dem and I'm guessing a good 30-35% of Louisiana voters are like me and will NEVER vote for a dem under any circumstance. Vitter was a very flawed candidate and I know a lot of women who would not vote for him, most didn't vote that's why it was one of the lowest turnouts on history. I think any reasonable R candidate w/o baggage can beat anyone with a D behind their name. The biggest thing is if nadler and schitt go into resist mode as they promise with investigation after investigation there will be a big backlash against any D in Louisiana. Trump is still extremely popular and he will be stumping for whoever is running against jbe. I can hear him now "a vote for R candidate X is a vote for Trump".

I'm not aware that anybody has conceded the next gubernatorial election to JBE if that's what your post title is saying.

56-44 is a pretty sizeable gap. Are you anticipating those numbers changing with a non-Vitter candidate?

IF the Republicans put a decent candidate up, JBE will lose.

Absolutely, so many women I know just refused to vote for a guy who cheated on his wife with prostitutes.....I couldn't see the logic but look what we got now.

All things being equal, Trump didn't have many of those same issues in LA.

People still don't get it.

Very few women care that Vitter cheated with prostitutes.

They care that Vitter went out of his way to craft an image as a wholesome family man, which is utter BS.

Whereas Trump has never, ever put himself out there as a family man. Trump knows, and embraces, the fact that he is a chauvinistic man, and women fell over themselves to vote for him.

Fund raising should not be a concern. All the R candidate has to do is buy a few ads that say 'Vote for me ...because I am not JBE.'

Here is the problem with Louisiana Republicans. They suck just as bad as the Dems. Most of them are Dems who switched parties and are RINO's . I think a lot of voters are taking note of that.

Also, a few things. Vitter’s situation was so tedious that for him to even mention it in detail was an issue because of the criminality involved (not that I agree).

Vitter also greatly lacked the personal charisma that has helped many similarly-situated candidates survive such a scandal. His demeanor of odd and quirky but sharp and competent didn’t play well with the prostitution thing - it kind of amplified it. Compare to EWE, Clinton, etc., who were just so likeable their issues were considered more as “you sly old dog” rather than “dude creeps me out.”

Also Vitter had some very bitter enemies on both sides of the aisle in LA politics. I’m not even sure why that was so deep with the GOP/right side but it was.

And here is where this board loses touch with reality.

LA is made up of democrats, RINOs, and a few conservatives. The democrats are going to all vote for JBE, and a significant number of the RINOs don't see / don't understand what the problem with JBE is. And since most of them are former democrats, they will tend to stick with the status quo.

The Democrats and most RINOs don't understand the future time bomb of the medicaid expansion, or how the sales tax causes issues, or the non-competitiveness of our economy for business.

That goes back to his days in the LA house, where he did what he wanted to do and didn't give AF about anyone else. He is the main reason we have term limits now in the legislature. Which is good for the state... but not good for the politicians.

You never saw Vitter out helping others raise money. All he cared about was himself. So, with a long list of enemies, they were all too happy to shoot him down when the going got tough.

So instead of voting for someone using his own money to frick women (that do it for a living) on his own time, we elected someone that spends his every waking moment fricking productive citizens and companies. Yeah, great idea.

JBE is going to win in a landslide. Who's conceding his reelection?

Here is the one thing unique about JBE with La. voters.

I've lived here all my life. I have NEVER heard a bunch of people I know IRL admit: 'Zach, I was wrong. I thought JBE was gonna be a conservative democrat. If I could do it over I'd vote for Vitter.'

People HATE to admit they are wrong. And they hate being deceived.

i think it was this alone as the main reason both parties worked hard to defeat him

If JBE jumps the insane Dem stance on an Open Border Policy, and gets on board with the "big beautiful door"/qualified DACA amnesty version, He'll easily win a second term.

Of course, the House Dems will likely go rogue with 'investigations' to damage Trump for '20, and will drop the 'Declassify' bomb, and that will put all common-sense Dems on the spot. No telling how ugly that will get; likely *Constitutional crisis* (like Obama co-opting DOJ/Intel wasn't) sky is falling out the wazoo. from the likes of Schumer, Pelosi, Waters et al.

The echo chamber that is this board is not indicative of the feelings of the people in this state with a few coins to their name .
