Shreveport elects 32 year old Adrian Perkins (D) as mayor

Army vet, West Point and Harvard Law grad. The incumbent Mayor Ollie Tyler faced backlash over her administration's handling of crime in the city and ultimately lost in a blowout
Perkins: 65% (25,052)
Tyler: 35% (13,864)
I begrudgingly voted for Perkins. First Democrat I've ever voted for. I didn't initially plan to vote and decided last minute to go cast a vote against Ollie Tyler.

I remember my outgoing councilman announcing his support for Perkins early on saying he would support fellow vets in their pursuits in politics or the private sector. shite,Oliver, me too. But I'll be damned if I'm going support someone just because we wore the same uniform at one time. I'll be interested to see who he surrounds himself. A novice running a city with a budget around half a billion dollars will have every fraudster and crook trying to get in.

Perkins makes big promises for change but he's got no experience and he's surrounded himself with the good ole boys network that's gotten Shreveport where it is today so I don't expect anything different. My vote today was a vote against Tyler more than anything. She's been nothing but a bumbling fool.
