Shouldn't America's great great universities allow homeless people to live on campus?

Tent cities, dorms during the summer, etc?
What is holding this up?!
The great minds of academia, based on their rhetoric, are certainly open to welcoming the underprivileged to their pristine campuses, one would think.
Human feces on the streets and heroin needles in the grass is a small price to pay for the utopia that is and will always be higher education. Especially if the homeless folks aren't white. Added bonus!
The quaint neighborhoods of professors just across the street from our great great universities would also be great digs for homeless rapists and homeless anarchists and homeless radical revolutionaries. Maybe some homeless Black Panthers and homeless child molesters too?

and those beautiful tree-shaded yards of the professors lawns would be a welcome relief from the summer sun. Need the professors to cooperate with consistent lawn insect control and keeping the bird bath filled with water, etc

I’m pretty sure the city of Oxford kills any homeless person that enters their town for the greater good.

Depending on the school, it may not be too different from the student body.
