No, what we need are laws against lying to the public as a politician or representative of a political party, and strong anti-corruption laws that directly affect members of Congress.

I want to see some frickling arrests and imprisonments made.

And how many problems stem from social security and the inability to do something about it because of that voting block.

Problems? What problems? Do you mean that the "Interest Bearing Personal Savings Accounts" that were promised at the inception of the program never pay interest and it is never your own personal savings account?
Do you mean like the fact that Social Security has become a grand Ponzi scheme and Congress is in charge and is constantly stealing the funds to support their pet projects?
The Social Security Program itself is just a bunch of words on a piece of paper and signed into law. That piece of paper is not the problem, the foxes and ferrets that have been put in charge of the chicken coop are the problem along with Congress that condones the current misappropriation of funds and feather their nests in the process.

That would be incorrect. He personally owns a lot of land, has realized a ton of cap gains, and cashed out billions in stock in the past year. He would pay a LOT of taxes on all that.

You are probably thinking of Amazon corporate income taxes.

There should definitely be an age requirement. Also felons can’t vote. They belong nowhere near law making policies. Sorry

But “wealth” requirements should not be involved. Just because you are broke doesn’t mean you can’t vote. That’s kind of the whole idea of this

BUT FOR GOD SAKES YOU HAVE TO PROVE WHO YOU ARE TO VOTE. YOU HAVE TO SHOW SOME SORT OF ID

AND anyone who says different is fricking stupid

quote: At about the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution, in the year 1787, Alexander Tyler (a Scottish history professor at The University of Edinborough) had this to say about “The Fall of The Athenian Republic” some 2,000 years prior: “A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.”

This^^^ has always been obvious to sane, rational and adequately educated people. Our constitutional republic has a very serious flaw, there was never a check and balance put in place to protect our republic from marginally informed voters falling victim to pandering progressives/socialists. These unmotivated and marginally informed voters will never vote for a candidate that promises equal economic opportunity, personal freedoms and the right to chart your own course in life because to do so requires personal responsibility, accountability and some decent level of effort to accomplish a desirable outcome. Too many people want that big ol big titty mama government to handle their business and they're more than willing to give up personal freedoms in exchange.

The right wing obsession with taking away fundamental rights is very telling.

If government can deny citizens the fundamental right to vote, then there are no fundamental rights.

I will trade you unlimited voting rights, for unlimited 2nd Amendment rights.

Never let it be said that I am incapable of compromise.

How about you???

Democracy is the Will of the People......so is gang rape.

If your rights are up for debate, are they really rights?

How about 1 person, 1 vote. And they can stop those dumbass "get out the vote" campaigns. If you have to beg and bribe someone to vote, maybe they shouldn't be voting. The last thing we need is a lot of unmotivated, uninformed people convinced to make a decision.

No, BUT-

If you are a net taxpayer (eg, you don't get back more than you put in/get back less than you put in/pay more on 4/15), you should get more than one vote. Depending on how much you contribute, you may get more than 2 votes.

This is how we ensure the people who actually contribute to society have a real say in how it's run.

Yes, military service should be a requirement.
