He's taking a 16 day vacation in Mar a Lago. You think he can spend a day surprising the troops overseas?

He may visit the troops overseas but that's something you don't telegraph in advance due to security concerns. So if it's a surprise, you wouldn't know about that right?? But you already knew that right??

Do y'all care if a president visits you or not?

When I was overseas during the holidays it didn't matter. Whether the president visited or not I was still going to be there away from my family.

Not a vet myself but my uncle was. In his words, it's a nice gesture getting visits from politicians/president, celebrities, musicians, etc. But it doesn't disappoint him if none of these people show up because he's there to defend our country and do his job.

So he stays in DC and people are pissed? Check
He goes home and people are pissed? Check
He plays golf and people are pissed? Check
Visits troops and people are pissed? Check
Don't visit troops and people are pissed? Check

I sense a pattern

He'll bitch and moan about it no matter what Trump does.

Either he didn't visit long enough or visited too long or not at the right time or something.

Wouldn't be much of a surprise if it was announced like now would it?

From this side of the Battlefield it can be hard to measure the importance or the experience of such a visit. The President's face and sheer being represents all the American's you are fighting for, the people back home. You are already fighting to protect and save the Troop next to you and him fighting in the same way on your behalf.

Is it a let down if he does not come? No. Even when he visits there are a limited number of Service Personnel who will ever see him, most will hear over Armed Forces Radio. The guys on the Front, cannot leave, they must stay. So often the folks in the higher risk assignments will never be present for such events, ask me how I know

If he makes it, he will crystallize a moment in time in a Service Persons life they will not forget. If he cannot make it, they continue fight regardless.

Worst thing a soldier wants for the holidays is some high ranking dog and pony show.

You think they are going to announce that he will be flying into Bagram the day before Christmas at 10 o’clock am?

His political stunt of sending troops to the border cost tax payers 210 Million and all those troops couldn't be with their families during Thanksgiving.

?

Trump made a campaign promise to bring the troops home from war zones like Afghanistan which he called a " waste". He was very critical of the war ,but he's been very quite about it since his Presidency ( Outside the random tweet of sympathy when another soldier is killed).

Surely he'll be be making that withdrawal announcement soon.

It's a failure on his part just like the President prior to him. Can you link your posts calling Obama to account for the same failure? Thanks.
