Progressives keep mentioning that their plan might be to pack the court once they are back in power. Since they're now acknowledging this is a legitimate political tactic, why should we wait? Why don’t we add another three or four conservative justices to the Supreme Court right now? We have the progressive stamp of approval to do so.

If the resident progressive can weigh in on this, I’d appreciate it.

It’s already happening and will continue to happen the next two years.

No it hasn't.

In order to meet the definition of "court packing" you must add seats in order to flip the makeup of the court.

As progressives have pointed out, there’s nothing in the constitution that says we can’t do it.

A coach doesn't play his second string in hopes of winning a competitive ball game. He makes the decision who is his first string. It's the major benefit of being the head coach.

No, of course not.

And how would he do it without the House?

Thank you for using the correct term. I wanted to pull out all my hair last week, reading the threads about “Court STACKING.”

No. GOP won the Senate, and court packing stinks of something a loser would do.

what he needs to do is propose expanding the court to get the house on record

Justice Thomas has mentioned he wants to retire while he can enjoy doing so.

Justice Thomas needs to (quietly) notify President Trump that he's retiring effective at the end of this term, so that President Trump can get the next candidate ready sooner rather than later.

Then when Justice Thomas makes the public announcement, President Trump should not wait too long before making his announcement as to the replacement.

No. We would destroy the system of checks and balances. Simply putting people on the Court who will rule your way and not look at everything objectively is not the way to do things and undermines the purpose of the Court.

So, we’re just counting the Notorious RBG and the Wise Latina, not Kevin Spacey?

Trump needs to pay someone to take US Justice Gins- nothing- burger on a overnite shopping spree in Cruz’ s district without her SS agents and have someone discover a pillow over her head the morning of the scheduled shopping spree.......

They’re far from getting the 2/3 Senate majority required for that kind of shenanigan.
