Typical liberal who claims to want to fight for minorites. All lies. You just want more power. Sad.

Apply your ignorant argument to black people and lunch counters. Bigot.

We're talking Electoral College, not the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Two entirely different kennels of fish.

Even Europeans were perplexed at the result of the 2016 US presidential election. How could a candidate lose when she got 3,000,000 more votes than the winner?

If you want to dive in a true democracy, go find one and then move there. Once you have moved to that particular utopia, you had better hope that the wolves don’t outnumber the sheep when it’s time to vote on what’s for dinner.

Thank God that you live in a constitutional republic. You can attribute every gain that any minority has ever achieved in America to that simple fact, genius.

so what happens if no candidate gets 50% of the vote?

Does the House of Representatives elect the President, the Constitution says that's what happens if no wins a majority of the EC, or does the plurality winner become President?

You can either have the USA as constituted, with the electoral college, or you can have revolution and then dissolution without it, or you can have a brutal repression that forces us to stay in against our will.

We won’t live peacefully under a pure democracy. It just will not happen.

FIFY.

Why cant it be by majority of States though? I believe trump won 30 states, and clinton 20. There you go a majority beat the minority.

Because that's the rules of the game. It's like saying that a football team got more yards than the opponent - interesting, but ultimately doesn't matter in determining who won the game. If the game were to get the most votes, candidates would campaign differently, and people would think differently about voting. Trump won according to the only rule that matters - he received more votes in the Electoral College. Europeans being perplexed about stuff notwithstanding.

But for the Q/MAGA crowd to criticize Democrats so harshly for something that Trump advocated AFTER he was elected is hilarious, even if it is unsurprising.

For what it's worth, I like the Electoral College in a lot of ways. What I hate is the primary system that keeps stupid shite like corn/ethanol subsidies around because Iowa is one of the first primary states for both parties. So, if you don't give those farmers their welfare, you can't get elected.

So... taking away the rights of the majority is unfair and immoral. Sort of like when the majority of voters pass a law mandating restrictions on abortion or gay marriage or laws requiring voter registration or something... and a liberal court overturns. I guess that's unfair and immoral as well, huh? I mean, it has to be, right?

BMY, you just do not understand. For ideologues, it is all good and patriotic to seek amendment of the Constitution in a manner that furthers their own ends. But it is treasonous to propose a Constitutional amendment that they oppose.

These people may well technically be Americans, but they do NOT actually believe in the governmental framework provided in our Constitution.
