What about blade manufacturers?

I dont understand why this is specifically to a gun manufacturer when people use pressure cookers to blow up marathons... anybody who produces an item that is used outside of it's original intended purposes should be sued?

so a high end sports car involved in a deadly high speed car accident that kills someone you can sue the car manufacturer?

Law? Who needs pesky laws???

There's a goddamned federal statute expressly for this and SCOTUS is ignoring it.

They are making a decision for an executive to go Andy Jackson on their arse.

They "can" sue....has no bearing on the outcome of the suit.

This will bite everyone in the arse.

Chevy, how can you sell a car as fast as a Corvette knowing it can kill pedestrians?

Can people sue Ford or Budweiser for DUI deaths?
McDonalds for heart attacks?

This can be a huge pandoras box that was just opened

What in the actual frick is this. I did not know that gun manufacturers made software. Is this true?

No, their models are used in realistic first person shooter games because, surprise, they're going to use real life firearms in a realistic video game.

Their finding is there is a cause of action under the law in direct contradiction to the federal statute passed for this very reason.

My only thought is that this is a "state law" issue; however, because Remington is in NC, it's clear interstate commerce which means the federal statue should operate as a bar.

This is bullshite.

This is how Deep State will destroy our 2nd Amendment rights. They will sue arms manufacturers right out of business.

How on earth does the current SCOTUS allow this?

Jesus, I would think they were better than that.

OK so further research, they didn't take the case not that they gave the case a look and allowed a lower court decision stand. My guess is IF the plaintiffs win then it will get kicked up.

I hope at least because if this goes through and stands there are sooo many ways manufacturers of pretty much anything can be sued.

In 1991 I was TeeBoned by an unlicensed, uninsured drug dealer at high speed. Broke my left leg and arm as well as my right wrist. Also had 47 stitches in my head and spent 4 days in intensive care. Spent 11 days in the hospital and 6 months in rehab before returning to my job.

Well then, if that's the case I should have a lawsuit against Cheverolet because they produced the Corvette for public sale. Also the dealer who sold the car to the slimeball who hit me.

I'm thinking more along the lines of sue all of the property owners who own the banks of a reservoir or river for containing such a harmful product.

What about distillers and brewers?

How do you delineate from a dangerous weapon vs. a beverage that has a higher alcoholic content than the “baseline.” Or a pre-made cocktail that masks the alcohol flavor thus making it more dangerous?

Talk about your slippery slope, thanks SCOTUS. LA Trial Lawyers just got a whole new batch of companies to fleece.
