I don't blame him...it's a pretty perfect response if you ask me.

I still don’t understand what he said that was so terrible.

He posted a meme suggesting men should use men’s restrooms and women should use women’s restrooms. And he posted a meme likening Muslim terrorists to nazis. (Of course the leftists are saying he compared Muslims to nazis) Leftist woke culture is going to destroy our nation.

Doesn’t matter.

He espoused a different political opinion.

Therefore, he must be erased.

I don't either. Apparently (I missed this I guess) he said some media members should be "lynched". So, they obviously have their panties all twisted about it. It's personal I guess.

ETA: I hadn't heard the lynching thing until this morning.

Well shite...people have been comparing conservatives like this for at least 4 years.

Was it bad at one time?

I never understood why baseball journalists are the ones who vote on the Hall of Fame. A bunch of liberal critics, most of which have never played the game are the judges of who gets in? Makes no sense, at least in modern times anyway.

It’s not that, it is a couple of things with him.

A lot of liberals hate him period for being conservative. A lot of New England hates him because he founded a company to make a MMORPG which failed, when the problem was that the state of Rhode Island was dumb enough to bankroll a huge chunk of it.

Honestly, all these HOFs are pretty stupid. It's okay to have a museum but just call it a museum. Who gives a flying f!!k if someone is a HOFer?

The writers founded the BBHOF and set the rules, so they get to be the gatekeepers.

Problem is that they are clowning themselves at this point.

The 75% threshold means that grandstanding by a small percentage of voters makes the difference between people getting in and there being classes with no entries.

Schilling’s stats are unquestioned and he habitually gets 70%+ but not 75%. And he basically told them to stick his final year up their asses because they aren’t going to let him in over politics / muh feels.

There is a backlog of other players not getting in because of steroid issues and the big problem there is that they are clogging up the ballot because they get enough to stay on but nowhere close to what is needed for entry.

There is also a bunch of snobbery with regards to whether a player “deserves” first year entry or 100% of the votes.

A HOF player should be a HOF player in year 1 or year 10.

Politics aside, it's a baseball writers hall of fame. That alone makes it awful. Those old dudes hold grudges.

Agreed...although basically up to the steroid scandal they basically put in most anyone who deserved it (Pete Rose notwithstanding but he was banned from MLB so hard to fault them).

When steroids came around and they saw that people found it OK to hold someone out for what they saw as a character flaw well that opened Pandora's Box and it hasn't closed yet as we can all see.

Yep. Albert Belle dropped off the ballot because they refused to vote for him because he is an a-hole.

Of course, part of his stand-offishness with the press was their treatment of him. A guy from the Cleveland Plain-Dealer who interviewed him was able to get me a signed ball by him, so he apparently didn’t have issues with all reporters.
