Saw what a state dinner menu looks like and I don't know what some of this looks like

And this is what they had for dinner at Mount Vernon tonight.
Lemon-Ricotta Agnolottii w Citrus Butter
Petite Salad
Ballotine of Dover Sole
Lemon Curd
Heirloom Asparagus
Chocolate Souffle
Cherry Vanilla ice cream

I've been to big dinners before but I at least recognized what I was eating, on the menu and on the plate.
I would still try the frick out of it though.
Buttermilk biscuit crumbles?
Ballotine of Dover Sole?
Burnt Cippolini Soubise?
Fingerling Potato Veloute?
I have no idea what those are but I would still let my taste buds be the judge. Let it rip.

Like what if the food is pretty close to what we eat everyday or a nice night out on the town and they're just giving it fancy names just to make it sound like you said, "pompous"?

First course:
Mozzerrella sticks with marinara
Fried mushrooms with ranch
Second course
Iceberg lettuce garden salad
Cup of gumbo
Shrimp cocktail
Main course
Ribeye
Loaded baked potato
Asparagus
Dessert
Cheesecake with cherry topping
