He's trying to be the standard bearer for Never Trumpers and Biff and Muffy Millenial. Mittens is going to run for President as the RINO candidate in 2024, but what he did today all but assured the Trump Base will never support him.

The POS should be removed from every committee assignment, and outcast as an example.
Collins was balancing on a pin with her electorate. Had she voted like Romney, it would be understandable. Romney screwed her.
Several Dem Senators were under pressure to acquit.
Romney's treachery also gave them all cover for a vote to remove.
In fact, Romney's vote made it nearly suicidal for any Dem Sen to acquit.
McConnell should permanently eviscerate the SOB in terms of any assignments.
