According to Jamie Dupree of WSB Cox Media. Said republicans in Congress have pushed back against it behind closed doors. Republicans prefer some kind of stimulus package without payroll.

Mnuchin said he and Trump are still pushing for it and think payroll tax cut will provide best booster for people, jobs, economy.

I work in small business. If we cannot perform our trade due to shutdown, we won't even have the cash to support payroll period.

there needs to be different levels of help on this shite. Small business will get ROCKED by this thing if they do forced work shutdown.

Pork sucking motherfrickers. Dems are still worse, but FFS if this is true (and I don't have a lot of doubt about it).

Swampers don't want Mr. and Mrs. America to get used to bringing home all of their full pay.

It will make it that much harder to take it back later.

This is what the stimulus package should handle. Payroll tax cuts are a 100% no brainer, so of course those assclowns will frick it up

My Dad owns a small business that installs tile in homes and businesses (mostly homes). He told me that, if they have to close down for a couple of weeks, a payroll tax cut would allow him to pay his guys for at least one and maybe two weeks of the weeks they aren't working. That way they don't go with no income at all.

Exactly, hard to add pork to payroll tax rule changes, but you can layer that stuff to the heavens in a stimulus package.

Then threaten to Veto the package. Go to Public and explain what it would entail. The only thing that Politicians understand is pissed off constituents, especially in an election year.

But they'd rather increase their SNAP budget 20% once they are laid off. Disgusting

Trump can unilaterally give us all whatever break on our taxes he wants to

All he has to do is pardon us all for tax evasion this year

If I'm not mistaken, the payroll tax cut only affects the employee's side. The employer is still on the hook for their 6.2%

Apparently it is included in the bill for both ER and EE.

Article I read drilled the benefit to both sides, but never specifically said it applied to both sides, so I could be wrong.....or the article could be wrong

I saw earlier in the week they said precious payroll tax cuts were only 2-3% but Trump wanted all 12%.

Fed Govt would never, ever, neverever give all 12%. Once ee's felt how much they were giving away, and the economy exploded with all the extra employer $$, folks would demand a change.

It's too early for this stimulus BS anyway. Once the dust settles and people calm down do an economic reassessment and see what needs to be done to kickstart the global economy. Why worry about cutting payroll taxes when every expert who's in pandemic panic mode are telling us to avoid large crowds, it's not easy to spend that money when everything is being shutdown.
