Liz MacKean, the former British investigative reporter who exposed Jimmy Savile and the culture of pedophile protection at the BBC, has been found dead. She was 52.

[ynw] MacKean worked at the BBC until she quit in 2013 after executives decided to ban her groundbreaking and brave investigation into predatory pedophile Jimmy Savile in order to protect him and other pedophiles.

Dismissed by the establishment as mad and dangerous, MacKean was finally vindicated when the truth about Savile’s pedophilia eventually came out in 2012, a full year after MacKean first tried to bring his notorious crimes to light.

The BBC, who blocked her groundbreaking investigation from airing and spent the next few years attempting to destroy her reputation, are reporting that she died of “complications from a stroke.”

If nobody investigated the Michael Hastings death, this one will certainly fly under the radar.

I can't find any other source that claims she was "found dead", just that she died after a stroke

"found dead" in home is a lot more suspicious than "died in hospital after a stroke" no?

Not necessarily. Died in hospital after a stroke is not that common, as, in the short term, most strokes cause disability rather than death. The exception is a hemorrhagic stroke. Most, however, are ischemic. To have a stroke at 52 is not that common, but hemorrhagic at that age probably would be more common than ischemic. It's still conceivable that she could have died of complications. Aspiration pneumonia would be the most likely scenario in that case. All in all, suspicious nonetheless

Well let's slow down on that.

Playing devil's advocate here, why would she be murdered? The story she tried to break but BBC suppressed ended up coming to light in 2012. And she was fired in 2013. Why would they kill her now? Was she working on a new story?

It's possible it was murder, but we absolutely should not jump to that immediate conclusion every time someone who did something important dies. Because we all die, including those who did important things. And it's wildly irresponsible to accuse anyone of murder when the only thing we know is that someone died. So slow the frick down.
