It’s just such a risk by China that I don’t think they’d take it when they were on trajectory to win anyway. I still think incompetence in the lab is the simplest and most logical explanation.

But they were on track to lose the November election, don’t you think?
And with all we are hearing now about the struggling Chinese economy, bankruptcies or whatnot of huge firms there, are you sure that Chinas trajectory was all that good? I’m not sure their outlook would have been very good at all with a Trump 2nd term.

Both of those scenarios are not mutually exclusive, by any stretch. The Wuhan military games being the primary vector of the virus spread is a plot wrinkle that would make Tom Clancy blush. That said, we cannot rule it out.

China is known for thinking well beyond four years for its planning purposes.
I'm suspicious of China. At best, a natural cross over to humans was covered up which is bad enough. Then you get to lab accidents and such which is of course, even worse. I'm also suspicious of defectors, and we should thoroughly research their claims instead of accepting them because they fulfill our preconceived notions. I don't think I have to remind people about what happened leading up to the Iraq war.
