What do we do about the white people who have slave ancestors? Ancestors of slaves who had black owners? Slaves of Native Americans?

I agree though, anyone who was a slave and endured it, should be paid millions of dollars each. I’m 100% for reparations for actual slaves, not dumbcünts who want to be lazy and mooch off society.

So we taxpayers have to pay for the enslavement of people controlled by countries other than the USA for that first 150 or so years?

A. Democrats and other people who talk about reparations don't give a frick about slavery. It's only used as a political gimmick.

B. How can reparations repair a wealth gap? In inner cities across the country, local politicians deliberately keep public schools in horrendous conditions...so that inner city youth (majority black) never receive a legit education. Reparations will not fix that problem. Without a basic education, the racial wealth gap will increase.

Want to help the situation? Then convince the politicians and other government employees who control cities.. to fix up their public schools and start hiring teachers who will actually teach their students, and not just vomit political ideologies. Every child deserves a basic education. Knowledge is power.

Most blacks are not the descendants of slaves. Most black migration occurred post Civil war.
1) Reparations are a REALLY stupid notion

2) if possible, the quoted assertion is even more stupid than the notion of reparations.

There are approximately 40mm Blacks in America, of whom approximately 4mm immigrated here since 2000. Black immigration prior to 2000 certainly existed, but the numbers were negligible. The total number of non-native Blacks in the entire country was 3/4 of a million in 2000.

Then you have to look at the ancestry of the KIDS of immigrants. If an immigrant marries a native, the KIDS will have ancestors who were slaves, even if one parent does not.

Refugee populations tend to marry other members of the refugee community in the first generation, but MOST Black immigrats are NOT Somali refugees. Non-refugee immigrants are MUCH more likely to intermarry with the existing population.

Then we can look at country of origin. The two largest are Jamaica and Haiti, where most citizens are descended from ... slaves. Number three is Nigeria. There are a whopping 300,000 Nigerian immigrants, and they tend to intermarry

In short, “reparations” are stupid policy, but advocating against them with stupid srguments just makes you look ... stupid.

Probably has something to do with black Americans making up disproportionately higher percentages of things that negatively affect one’s ability to earn wealth: children raised in single parent homes, high school dropout rate, and felony convictions. We’re not in the 1950’s and 60’s anymore. Everyone has an opportunity to succeed. If you end up spending a lifetime in poverty in this day and age, its because you made poor decisions along the way...not because of skin color.

Sure there were. Hundreds of them over hundreds of years. In the grand scheme of things, their numbers barely constitute a rounding error.

You do not make policy based upon rounding errors. Not if you are any sense at all.

Gates and Ob instigated CORE and they are teaching public school children gender disparities and racial propaganda, not the basics they actually need. Dumbed down sheep make better slaves.

Bill Gates, a key godfather of the Common Core subject-matter standards, wrote five years ago that the national standards “will improve education for millions of students,” but a groundbreaking new study shows that Common Core has actually decreased the level of student achievement.

It's not about slavery in the past, its keeping blacks enslaved in the present.

There still are. In America slavery only lasted 71 years.

I'd be more interested in knowing how many white people have black ancestors who were slaves. Or how many white people have a black great grandparent who suffered during the jim crow era.

In a hypothetical situation where reparations are given out.. i wonder if things would be accurately looked into. Or if reparations to make up for past atrocities will only be blindly paid out to modern people who are black?

It's too complicated, imo. So I agree with you that the idea of reparations is stupid.

I stand by the notion of building up our public schools. Especially public schools in inner cities. The best way to make up for the past is to pave a way for future generations. Basic education is a must. I get sick to my stomach when I read about schools that have a high percentage of illiterate students.

I just want a dollar amount. Give me a single figure per black person in America today, irregardless of age, to make this all fricking go away. How much would need to be added to my individual tax burden this year to make everyone just shut the frick up for a few generations at least?

Shouldnt they go the countries that sold blacks into slavery? Or will that upset too many people?
