I hate that 9/11 happened. Period.

But man, after that our country was more united than I’ve ever seen. American flags on every car and home, churches packed, neighbor loving neighbor and hands being held during the national anthem. I remember our country being nothing but brothers and sisters.

Fast forward only 17 years and now it’s racism and bigotry run rampant.

I hate that 9/11 happened, but it brought our country to what it’s always supposed to be.

And laws were passed that forever took away our freedoms. Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.

I remember it mostly being fake comaraderie and the first moment democrats sensed vulnerability in Bush they went at him like we haven't seen till TRUMP.

When the government used the patriotism smoke screen to cement its power and destroy privacy?

Yes. I remember.

Man. Some of you really like to look at the negativity of everything. Maybe that’s half the problem today.

I take it you weren’t around for the reagan days if you actually believe that dems went after bush harder than anyone before. The attacks on the two are hardly even comparable.

Reagan is the only one to have attacks like trump. The old “he isn’t fit for office” playbook came out. Amazing how it seems to recycle.

Remember that sliver of the population that said we had this coming because of the assertive, self-centered, capalatistic relations we have with the rest of the world? I often imagine how big that sliver would be today if this happened again.

It was phony and lasted only a few months or so.
