Why is anyone complaining about it? Why is it a big deal pulling it from civilians who are no longer a part of a administration? I think it should SOP that once they are no longer in their job and return to civilian life it should be immediately pulled. Am I missing something?

Because it violates free speech!!!!!

People like Brennan value things like that.

These people can be brought back to help our country.

They do not have daily access to sensitive information after retirement or no longer on the job.

Well then if they are called back upon to assist, you give them clearance again at that point.

This really doesn't make any sense to me. I'm sure there are people at the highest levels of government, say the president for example, that can grant a clearance carte blanche to whomever they feel like. I mean, some mindless bureaucrat at the OPM or whoever oversees the things can't simply tell the president whom and whom not he can talk to about any particular matter. I'm sure there are "protocols" that dictate such things but me thinks that if the president or someone like the head of the CIA needed Brennan's help or expertise on a certain subject a lack of clearance means virtually nothing.

Many people take those clearances to the private sector. I haven't read up on this story much but I think the question should be about what he is doing with that clearance

I think the biggest surprise to me was that people who left Government still kept clearance. Really sounds like a dumb policy just looking from the outside.....

Vetting people for security clearances is very time consuming and expensive. Many civilians have security clearances for the work they do with the government. It doesn’t mean they have access to things without permission.

I can’t imagine this administration working with Brennan anyway.

I am trying man, but I have just disconnected myself from a lot of news and political stuff the last few months. I feel guilty for it because I know that is what the left wants but I have just gotten totally and completely sick of the fricking bullshite. I am not a huge fan of Trump he is a brash loud mouth who as no filter at all, even when it would serve him well. I did vote for him because I felt he was ( a outsider) exactly what we needed at the point in time. Both sides pretty much hate him and I think that is a good thing. The thing is Trump could literally find a cure for cancer and he would be hated for it.

Yes you are missing something. A security clearance doesn't grant you the right to access. You still have to meet the "need to know" test.

If someone with a clearance retires and decides to play golf the rest of his life, there is no need to pull his clearance because he doesn't have a job that requires it.

Low level guys lose their security clearance after one year. They feel that ALL ex-gov't employees with security clearance should be treated the same and ALL should lose their clearance after 1 year. Brennan has been out over 1 year.
Why is Brennan fussing like a teen-age girl that got dumped before prom?
