My wife took my daughter for a wellness check (female stuff) before she leaves for LSU next week. This was the first time seeing this Dr. so we didn’t know what to expect. Regarding the vaccine she of course said it was ultimately my daughter’s decision but that she was very adamant against young healthy people getting it. She was very frank and stated she thought it was bullshite how many companies and universities without actually mandating the vaccine were doing everything they could to make people miserable so they would get the jab.
After the vaccine discussion she asked my daughter if she had protection when walking around campus. My daughter stated she had pepper spray. The Dr. then said and I quote “it’s a damn shame LSU pussied out and banned firearms on campus”. My wife proceeded to agree with her. The Dr. then said “oh well a lot of dumb people are making dumb decisions simply because OMB and emotions overrule logic for the weak minded”.

So important. Ive taught my daughters from a young age that logic > emotion, always.

That simple lesson has paid off so many times over the years.

You should be a proud Dad

One of the greatest gifts a Dad can give their daughter is the skill of thinking independently

I think your full of shite on pretty much everything you've said here. The doctor said "pussied out" to your daughter and wife?

My oldest is about to be a sophomore at Georgia Tech. She fits in so well there because its full of students who think logically and therefore lean a little conservative.

She was telling me earlier this summer that the Student Affairs office did a big LGBT push last year. Flyers everywhere. Rainbows on the sidewalk, etc. She happened up on the big event and about 10 people had shown up and how disappointed the organizers were.

The general consensus is "We dont have time for this bullshite."

Yes. My wife was a little taken a back by it. The Dr. stated she doesn’t have many soapboxes she gets on but not vaccinating the young against COVID, self protection, and eating organic are things she firmly believes in.

I had a similar conversation yesterday with my daughter’s pediatrician. He sarcastically said when listening to all of the “experts” on TV, he was unsure if maybe everything he learned in med school was all wrong.

You know, I was thinking this morning, everyone "who knows" ie docs, CDC, etc wants us to do what they say.

When did "talk to your doctor" go out of style??

My HCP suggested that I wait for this vaccine for a bit .. she knows my history, comorbidities, etc.

I think since we have gone to teledocs, docs in a box, etc the idea of a personal doc has gone by the wayside...
