Ironic isn't it?

quote:

Mandatory evacuations were ordered Wednesday morning in Southern California as a rapidly moving wildfire ignited and burned in Simi Valley, near the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library -- but the library's importing of hundreds of goats to eat nearby vegetation may have helped keep the building shining -- and not flaming -- on a hill.

Been a helluva week for our four-legged friends, huh?

This proves California doesn't know what the frick they're doing when it comes to managing their forests.

Why didn't it burn? Because the goats ate all the under brush. You know, like CONTROLLED BURNING would do?

There's a guy in Nashville that quit his job (or maybe got laid off) and bought a whole bunch of goats. He started a company that rents them out to people to clear their land... take care of hillsides and what not. He loads 'em up, takes them to the location, leaves them for a few days and then picks them up.

So, someone used their brain to figure out that if you got rid of underbrush, then the fire might not be as devastating? Who the frick knew...

Didn’t Trump get roasted (pun intended) over saying something like this last year when fires were everywhere in CA? The media ran out of pearls to clutch when he stated a common sense take

Eta: Found it. About forestry management
quote:

“Remember I went to California [last November], I saw something that nobody has ever seen — it was like a blowtorch,” Trump continued. “It was 80 mile an hour winds, and the death and destruction was incredible, and I said, ‘you need forest management.’ They were saying it was global warming. It could have had something to do with it, but you need forest management.”

Heck, we have goat milk, goat cheese, goat yoga, goat caddies and goat landscape maintenance. Are goats are the goat livestock?

They don't fart that much. Goats are capable of digesting more poisonous material than any other mammal with no ill effects. Might be why the ancients thought they were the debbil.

Fayetteville has a company called Greedy Goats that you can hire for that. The city has hired them to eat undergrowth at city parks for at least four years.

Most definitely... they are not overly difficult to maintain, tasty when prepared properly, and offer other benefits general livestock does not...

Biggest thing is they are more susceptible to predators than cows....

Buzzards have to be a close second. I read somewhere that their stomach acid is a hundred times more potent than a human's.

They would be if you didn’t have to worm them regularly. It’s all fun and games until you have to scrub up and shove a suppository up its arse every 6 months.

Oh look - a live demonstration of how actual proper forestry management practices would stop this shite. Amazing. Who knew?!?!?

Now that I think of it, my grandfather used to have one. He said that sometimes, for no reason whatsoever the goat would just run up and head butt him.

Could you not just put some orange food coloring on it and say here's a carrot. They'll eat anything.
