No.

If they don’t have the common sense to understand the above basic argument, then there’s no educating them on any other point.

How So? Because I'm making a logical argument?

I'm actually showing you how to debate this issue.

Firearms were designed to kill. That is their entire purpose. I own firearms for that purpose.

By arguing "guns don't kill people" you're allowing them to frame the debate. By YOU acknowledging that they do kill people you frame the debate and force them to explain why killing someone is wrong and why you shouldn't possess an instrument designed to do just that. What's their rebuttal? That self defense is wrong and you shouldn't have a tool to defend yourself?

Right, but not specifically designed to kill people. To say that they are is not only an inaccuracy, but fuels a train of thought that there is no other legitimate use of a firearm than to kill a person.

Liberals don't want to here why they are wrong. Liberals don't think they do anything wrong. Liberals believe that everyone that disagrees with them are Facist.

What about the person unable to resist a cookie? Is he just an innocent victim to food? What’s sad is you thought this was a valid argument.

Keep making that weak "guns don't kill" argument and keep losing the debate.

So, how long do I have until my guns start attacking me?

Was it the fork or the food that made the person fat? Think really hard.

I hope they do use that rebuttal since the government has guns.

Soda Bans in Schools Don't Curb Student Consumption of Sugary Drinks, Study Shows

^Huffpo link

quote:

In states where soda is banned, schools and students simply replaced availability and consumption of sodas with other sugary drinks like sports and high-calorie fruit drinks.
quote:

The Institute of Medicine has recommended that all sugar-sweetened drinks be banned from schools, and schools from California to Massachusetts are considering banning, or have already banned, chocolate milk, citing its high sugar content. “Our study adds to a growing body of literature that suggests that to be effective, school-based policy interventions need to be comprehensive,
quote:

Taber told Reuters. “I wouldn’t see this as a failure, it’s just that that’s not going to be enough. To reduce sweetened beverage consumption, and ultimately to reduce obesity, it’s going to take more comprehensive policy initiatives.”

A school soda ban doesn't work. Surprised? The kids just find another sweet drink to buy, so now the banners are looking to institute a ban on all sugary sweeteners in schools.

And there's the slippery slope, y'all. Allow the ban of AR platform long guns, and the yammering for a "more comprehensive" firearms ban will begin shortly afterward.

Side note: They'd better not try to get between me and my sweet tea.

They already have that train of thought. By acknowledging that guns are designed to kill you're forcing them to make an argument as to why that's a bad thing.

The gun isn't the root of why someone kills. Certainly, it can make the act easier, but a sane person with moral restraint will never simply murder innocent people.

So you're ok with making it easier for people to kill one another?

Why should we not make that a harder thing to do?
