Typically Russia oversells their hardware.

However it does appear the Cold War is returning.

Our massive fleet of Trident submarines says hello, Vlad. You feeling froggy? Bunch of geopolitical posturing and muscle flexing.

Russia wishes it was. They’ve gotten more aggressive for sure but they’re all bark and no bite. Nearly half of their effective ground forces are currently in Ukraine. Most are inept conscripts. Their SU-57 project is a disaster. Their navy is falling apart at the seams. The only thing they really have going for them is EW and SAM ground capabilities.

China is the new emerging bad guy on the block but much less of a conventional threat to the US.

I take this with the same massive grain of salt that I take when I hear about China developing photonic radar that can detect all our stealth planes, when they couldn't even build their own stealth plane without massive industrial espionage

Well, 18, but each of them, by itself is the 3rd most powerful military force on Earth.

So, maybe 8 (teen) is enough.

America and the USSR hated each other, and there was no inter connection aside from the threat of blowing each other up.

America and China are more like those two people in a car pool who get routinely annoyed at each other but also recognize that they're much better off with the other one around.

So when were all the tests and why didn’t our media report it?

I kind of expect them to do that

I have always been under the assumption MAD still was in play.

The US/China relationship is like the Sam the Sheepdog and Ralph the Wolf from Looney Tunes.
