I would like to trade with Russia. They are a large country with good resources. It would be great to have them in our side.

MInd you Putin is slick, like Xi, they are all slick as snakes.
But the establishment that does not want America exceptional, made Russia the boogieman. Because we cant have nice things and be the shining city on the hill.

Russia had a disastrous summer. They threw everything at the Ukrainians thinking they would break, but they didn’t. Russia lost tens of thousands of troops and gained almost nothing. The window of opportunity, that came when Trump threatened to abandon Ukraine, is over.
Putin had a dream. of reconstituting a Russian empire. That dream died with the fall of Syria, the neutering of Iran, the ME peace deal and the defense of Ukraine. Putin probably recognizes his defeat and is ready to sue for peace. If not now then it will be soon.
