It’s long past time we raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. The American Rescue Plan will get it done.

Ralph’s in Long Beach already said “Peace, we outta here.”

Other businesses to follow.

Raise to $15 then employers lay off many of the workers that were screaming for it, then raises the prices of their goods to compensate for the pay increase and in turn nullifying the employees that are left pay increase by them now having to pay more for the same goods...

He has no fricking idea what that will do to small businesses because he's never held a private fricking job in his life.

In the name of equity, so we can all be as rich as Bezos, I propose no less than $15Billion/hr.

Personally, I think it is "long past time" that we abolish the very NOTION of a minimum wage.

But I don't see that getting much traction.

I have said this over and over in arguments with liberals. Even if you believe in a minimum wage, it's insane to think that it should be set on the national level. There is simply no reason to think that the minimum wage in California or NY should be the same as Louisiana or South Dakota. Lots of states have set their own minimum wage above the current national one. Still not a good idea in my opinion, but local politicians have a better chance of understanding local economic conditions and the impact of minimum wages in their communities than a one-size-fits-all DC solution. Seems like politically, that is the way to defeat this push--there is simply no need for the federal government to involve itself, even if you think minimum wages need to rise.

I have a serious problem with that fact that people in federal government have no idea how economics works. Like this is basic fricking shite. You raise minimum wage requirements, businesses have to offset that added cost somewhere else. It's not in a vacuum and it's infuriating that they don't get that. Or they do and they are just purposefully destroying our economy to mold future generations into becoming government aid dependent.

We are so fricked.

Why $15? Why not $20? Why not $1000?

The dirty secret in all this is that no one has a fact based answer as to why it shouldn't be $1000/hr, but they say it needs to be $15/hr

All this does is push the economy to the collapse they want, leaving the federal government the latitude to swoop in and take over the economy directly. Vuvusela 2.0

You know what? Good. The people who will be out of a job because they don't actually provide work worth $15 an hour voted for this. Screw em.
