Many folks oppose DACA. That's fair. But let's investigate the legality of all their ancestors' migration to the US. Just out of curiosity.

If my great-grandpa was breaking the law then they should've busted his old arse. Investigating it now wouldn't do much good but I'm down. Maybe he was a terrible human being. It wouldn't make any difference to me.

He wants to investigate legality

As in laws

Specifically immigration laws

As in the vast system of complex immigration laws that the native Americans had. . .

My ancestors risked life and limb to wrestle this great land from tyranny and oppression.

Then they defended it from such.

Then they defended her interest abroad.

Then they did that again.

Then when called upon to participate in the defense of our allies they answered.

...

Are we going to keep score in this game?

The comment actually demonstrates why it is so important to have a functioning immigration system. You can't go back. Only one chance to get it right.

My paternal ancestors arrived before the Revolution. My maternal ancestors arrived during the Irish Potato Famine. Good luck.

well asian american's weren't excluded just actual chinese people born and living in china who were being brought over in droves as bonded laborers. the law had no effect of jap's or filipino's. which also were not effected by the immigration act of 1917. just the Chinese.

My ancestors were French Huguenots who came to SC in the late 17th century after the Edict of Nantes was revoked by Louis XIV. There were no immigration laws then Mr. Bharara because the United States didn't exist then.

My great great great grandpa came to New Orleans in 1787 working as a deck hand to pay for his passage. Didn't have a penny to his name, and within 2 years was the wealthiest business owner in New Orleans. Married Zelia Destrehan and inherited the Destrehan plantation from his father in law Jean Noel Destrehan. Owned over 100 slaves. His nephew came over from Scotland and became a plantation owner in Baton Rouge. He lost the land in the civil war due to financial ruin after helping fund the confederate cause. The state took the land from the family and granted it to build an academic institution called Louisiana State University

That's my ancestors history

Over 90% of my line were already here in the 1600s. Only one direct ancestor arrived after the Revolution sometime in early 1800s.

Pocohantas was a direct ancestor. I have several other native americans in my lineage. I don't owe nobody nuttin'.
