Perhaps it is time for Democrats not be "Republican Light" but "Left Extreme" to get more Southern support? Doug Jones from what I read did NOT run as a wimpy centrist "the era of big government is over" Clintonite.

Maybe it is finally time for a left part to engage the southern poor and harness an alliance of the left behind?

Is this code for identity politics on a larger scale?

Yes. Do it. Take this election to be a green light for the party to embrace the Sanders wing.

Yes, please do that

Doug Jones needed the help of millions of dollars, the entire DNC and a national smear campaign by much of the media in order to win by a handful of votes. Trying to paint this as a referendum against the GOP is about as accurate as painting JBE's win as such.

The Left has lost far more elections in the past 20 years by running primarily on identity politics than they've won. This won't work out like you're expecting it to.

Are you kidding?

Jones winning was probably good for Alabama but if you've been told that he ran as a Bernie Sanders' leftist, you've been misled. Every other commercial was about how he loved the Lord, how he owned multiple guns, and how he would not raise taxes. It was an onslaught of media trying to convince us that Doug Jones was a moderate.

Go for it.

I love the "Alabama can't elect a pedo!" screed...then, when Alabama does not elect a "pedo", the opponent claims "Look how successful I was and it shows my PARTY is in vogue"

it is silliness.

I hate that the Fed Gov is so big and powerful that who the frick is elected as Alabama senator is a big deal.

But, damn. Let's not pretend that Jones would win without the accusations of the past several weeks.

This is what Bernie Sanders, Shaun King, and others have been arguing - and so far they've been validated.

Black people aren't "not voting" because they're lazy. They've been "not voting" because they're as disillusioned with the corporate Democrats like Hillary and McAulliffe as many of us MAGA types have become with the GOPe.

King and Bernie argue that if you go true leftist and "give the people what they want" you will see increased turnout that you wouldn't believe.

Last night helped vindicate that a bit. We're also seeing in local elections with far-left / socialist candidates for mayor, council seats, etc. in major cities throughout the USA.

The Democrats / blacks / far left have stumbled upon something that was not possible before social media.

Blacks and young voters are going to push the Democrat party so far left that it will be almost unrecognizable in about 10 years. Bank on it. Could be very scary for us traditionalists.

I'm not sure we really want this. If blacks and young voters embrace far-left candidates and start voting at 2008 levels for locals and midterms, our country will be changed forever in a very short amount of time. Winning is addictive - they have been scoring huge wins with young black far-left mayors and council members all over the nation. Last night blacks singlehandedly turned that election in a way that we've literally never seen before in this country. It was like MAGA 2016 in reverse.

Social media makes this conceivable. Soros type groups will make it easy to creatively keep this unmined voting bloc engaged and active. This is scary.

I think that is an absolutely
T E R R I F I C idea.

I would recommend getting this over to Soros and your other shitlords asap.

You have forged a workable Dem path forward.

This will definitely work.

Fair point but has anyone ever run as a true "eat the rich" politician since Huey Long in the south?

It could work. Might win in some of the rural parts.

Bernie literally did this and it worked fantastically well. If he wasn't such a pussy or if the timing of the states had been more favorable to him, he could have finished Hillary in the same way that Trump finished the GOP

It will eventually happen. No doubt about it. It would have happened a lot sooner had Hillary been elected. We dodged that bullet, but there are plenty more incoming.

you want to know how I know pretty much everyone in this thread doesn't live in Alabama and didn't see any of these ads?

FYI - Doug Jones was run as a centrist who could actually work with Washington much better than the nutjob Moore.
